Being a fan of good fantasy and especially of Baums stories of Oz, I was interested to see if this version (aimed for kids, I think) wouldhold up to what I deem as good story telling. I feared the animation would be the 1960s type, stiff and dull looking. But as an animation fan,especially of classic animation, I find this film an excellent use of computer animation. The movements realistic, very fluid and well drawnand voiced with a good cast. There is some singing (which I generally dislike) but it fits in well with the narrative here. The characters arewell drawn and designed, though I thought Glinda looked a little anemic ( could use some meat on her bones) and had a good choice ofnew characters. The story is only loosely based on the original ideas and varies considerably from the later books of Baums, but it is funand children will certainly like it. I thought the backgrounds were superbly done, nice 3D rendering effects, good though kind of weird Cityof Emeralds and a magnificent version of the Witches castle with all the towering turrets and walls. As good (and probably better) than thegreat one in the MGM masterpiece. The film did not quite has the mysticism or dream-like quality of the MGM movie, but still an artisticgem. And well done flying monkeys. I would love to sic them on Dr Sweets and Martha. Oh well, I can dream can't I? Four stars onlybecause I had hoped I would see a good version of the sequel books that followed THE WIZARD OF OZ. Still, this one is a winner. I gotthis DVD from Amazon where I get all my DVDs. I was able to see this animated version of the continuing story of Oz in the theatre when it was released and enjoyed it thoroughly. It is sad that it did not get more attention and frankly received some negative reviews. Yet, most who saw it had very positive responses. The animation is "pixar-ish" and very well-done. The musical score and songs are on par with any animated features in recent memory. The character voices are well-known and well-casted. Overall, the story-telling best communicates emotionally and with young viewers, whether male or female. I especially recommend it to families with kids in elementary school. It is a refreshing addition to the Oz collections. Highly recommended.

The passion I have for the film "The Wizard of Oz" is not shared by my kids. Even though it has been updated and now in color, there is something about it that newer generations find unappealing. Being a contemporary film from the era, I was delighted to find this one.It is an extension of the story of Oz. In it, Dorothy awakens in a post-tornado Kansas before being sent back to Oz to try to protect her old friends Glinda, the Tin Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow from a new enemy.The movements in this computer-animated movie are natural, smooth, and well-done, and it has a good vocal cast. Even the new characters are entertaining. I like the fantastic 3D rendering effects on the backgrounds.This isn't an actual book or story but the ideas or loosely based on them. Yet, the contemporary animation will keep kids interested, and they might even pick up some new insight about a well-known tale.

My class read The Wizard of Oz and we wanted to watch a movie to celebrate Us ending a novel. Will the original Wizard of Oz is too long, so I opted to watch this. Legends of Oz is the sequel to The Wizard of Oz and my students were at the edge of their seats the whole time. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who loves The Wizard of Oz. You will definitely enjoy this

My kid’s have watched this movie at least 4x. The song sung by mellow Mathers is beautiful. We sing it in the car all the time!

Nice music for adults to listen too....soothing. This adaptation is definitely for the VERY young set....toddler and preschoolers. Didn't hold the attention of 7 year olds. I didn't mind listening to the musical parts as I was doing my work around the house. Some of the animated things are loud and nerve wracking. This one was pleasant for the most part.

We were given fairytale​ from a friend and the kids loved it, this was advertised on the dvd. It was 2quid so got it. Little dark in places for a 4yr old but they really love it.

Functions fine, of good quality.

My kids love this dvd. They have seen others by the same people and saw this advertised so we had to get it. Yet again fantastic film

wonderful story recreating the magic that as we get older we still hope dwells in our soul . the songs touch your heart and once more your in the land of oz . I recommend this bluray for your children or the child within you . as for the seller I have no trouble in recommending their services . yours dennis lyons
