Kelty Bestie Blanket, Limited Edition - Indoor/Outdoor Insulated Camping Blanket

UPDATE (2/20/18):This was already a great piece of equipment, and now I've made it even more functional for myself. I am transitioning to hammock camping, and don't want to buy a 50-degree top quilt just yet just to save 8 ounces. Instead, I installed some #20 plastic snaps along the bottom edge of the blanket, so I can snap a footbox into it. Now I have a summer camping quilt. I also installed some snaps along the long side so I can make a blanket poncho for those cooler nights where you want to hang out around the fire, but don't want to put on layers. This thing is awesome. Great at home. Great on the trail. Just a great piece of gear.ORIGINAL REVIEW (11/4/17):I don't like to haul a heavy synthetic 0-degree bag around, and I don't want to spend what it costs to own a down 0-degree bag. Plus, it doesn't get that cold in Texas very often. So I take my Rovor Tabei, 50-degree (23-degree survival rating) sleeping bag out year round. It only weighs 2 lbs, and it packs small, so it's my standard. This blanket weighs just over 1 lb, packs down as small as my bag, and is perfect for those colder nights. The microfiber side is very soft, and helps to keep the blanket from slipping off your sleeping bag. That was not an issue for me even once. It's warm, and just the right size for one person. I'm 6'2" and it worked great for me.It would also work well as your bag replacement in warmer times of the year.

I purchased this for an overseas trip. I am so glad I did. The long flight was quite chilly. I was able to lay this blanket across myself and my 2 children seated with me. It covered the 3 of us perfectly. We also used it in our hotel stays as we were short on bedding more than once. It also made for a great makeshift pillow. It’s super easy to stuff back into the bag if you can’t fold and roll it up neatly. It washed up easily and dried super fast! It is soft on the one side and very warm. The other side is like slippery sleeping bag material. For measurement, it is about the size of a large beach towel, meant for one person. But like I said, we laid it sideways on an airplane and kept 3 of us warm. Great item!

I was a bit cold when this blanket came in so I decided to try it out right out of the box... wow it is warm! This blanket is just big enough to cover you completely from neck to tucked under your feet and tuck in on both sides. It also makes a nice shoulder blanket. It fits nicely in the sack as well and is super lightweight for its size. The inside is a warm cozy material but not too fuzzy. And the outside is like nylon hammock material it feels cool to the touch so I would turn the blanket over for warm weather sleeping.

Love it! Easy to pack up and use on vacation trips. Light enough to cover up with and not burn up and oh so soft! Bought it for my Cub Scout Son but I've noticed I've stolen it on the sofa a number of times as has our dog--but she isn't too picky! haha! Great blanket at a great price! Love the color too!

I'm not sure how anyone could give this less than four stars unless they misinterpreted it's purpose.. Let's be clear about what it isn't: this is not a substitute for a cold-weather sleeping bag. This is not a shelter. This is not a replacement for a hammock underquilt.What it is, is a comfy blanket, probably best deployed in that temperature range where you're already sporting a hoody but you don't want to put on a jacket. I'm 6'2" and I can wrap this around me like a cape, covering both shoulders and my butt. It's perfect for occupying a camp chair. If I'm lying down in my hammock it will cover everything but my head and feet, which is fine by me. It is not big enough to roll over onto my side and tuck it with me. It's not a king size comforter. This is a personal blanket, suited for one person who is hanging out while the temperature drops overnight.It packs up nicely and it survived the washing machine and dryer just fine. It's a fraction of the weight of my wool blanket, and it's snuggly and warm under fall-like conditions. I'd call it durable as far as the stitching is concerned, but a sparking ember from a campfire would burn a hole straight through it for sure.If you're looking for a personal blanket to tote around the campsite, I'd say you found it.

I use this at Work because they always have the AC on full blast rain or shine. This comes in handy as I didn't want to bring a huge blanket back and forth to work. This folds easily in my drawer and I use it on my chair or when I take a nap in my car . The colors are vibrant and the blanket is soft and warm enough. This isn't meant for extremely cold weather but hold up well for my day to day needs or even to stay warm at night for a bonfire at the beach. I will be buying another just for outdoor use.

Alright, so my husband purchased this blanket first in a different color and used it on a camping trip. Of course, me wanting whatever he has (it's a wife complex I guess) I "borrowed" it in the middle of the night. Let me tell you: I love it. It is light enough to bring on hot Summer camping trips but also warm enough in colder weather and seemed to block out the wind. I went ahead and purchased my own after our trip and I use it all the time. We are going on another longer camping trip in a couple of months and I will definitely be cuddling up with this sweet blanket. It packs amazingly in a neat little draw string bag so if you're limited on space this will be a great option.

We love these at my house. We love to go camping, but since we usually camping in the summer months near rivers and beaches, we need something that isn't too heavy or too warm. These blankets are perfect for our beach camp! I started with one and was using it in the morning to sit outside and have my coffee while wrapped up just a bit. The one I had was so useful that I had to buy a second one for my "bestie", my kid. Now, we each have one to use. They are very lightweight and good to put in a day pack for exploring without adding too much bulk or weight. If you love to be outside (especially in the Southern U.S.) I highly recommend getting one of these to keep on hand.

Cool blanket, very small package and good kelty product

Great size! Used it for a concert on the grass. Thick enough that no moisture got through. It fits easily into a backpack. Washes and dries beautifully. Would highly recommend.
