Thumbs Up with Some Tips
I'm really enjoying this set. I got the 65" size, which fits our home theater nicely. The room is not a lot wider than the screen, so off-angle viewing isn't a problem. When it was first set up the installers tweaked the "Standard" video setting a bit, and I found the picture oversaturated to the point of garishness. I tested it with my Oppo play using Blu-Ray DVDs of Planet Earth I and Comcast DVR-recorded Planet Earth II. After resetting the video to "Movie" everything looked much better. I've looked at a wide variety of sources and been generally quite pleased—a big step up from my old Sony HD TV, particularly in dynamic range (range of lights to darks). Because of this and its larger size, it puts out enough extra light that my wife can see to study her knitting while we watch in the darkened viewing room.I haven't been able to try the ultra HD features because like most people I don't have access yet to true Ultra sources. I got a Roku Ultra box that can stream 4K material, but because there is a long cable run between my equipment rack and the TV I will need a booster balun. The baluns now available, like the AV Access HDMI Extender, deal with 4K resolution, but not with the widened color gamut and dynamic range of full Ultra HD.My installer says there is one in the works that should be released later this year, and I'll have that installed when it's available which I'll be using to boost the signal fed through my current Cat 5 cable.Meanwhile my Oppo DVD player can't handle 4K, so there's no point in purchasing 4K discs until I get a new player. Netflix doesn't rent out Ultra 4K discs. Sooner or later Ultra 4K sources will be more widely available, but right now your best bet is streaming via the Internet. But for that you need a fast connection, or you may experience glitches. So the moral is, you're investing in the future when you buy this set. You won't necessarily be able to turn it on and view it at its full capability. But even as a standard HDTV, it's a beauty, and reasonably priced from Amazon, which didn't charge anything to me as a Prime customer to ship it and have it taken into the viewing room and unboxed. I didn't pay Amazon for installation because it had to be integrated with my other equipment and my universal remote, so that cost me another $430. There was also no sales tax charged, which may depend on which state you're in (I'm in Washington State).

Terrific tv! Such a clear, beautiful picture and wonderful colors!
Terrific tv! What beautiful colors and such a clear picture! Thus far, I find the sound to be actually rather good, despite some naysayers, though they may care more about a pounding bass sound or want to play it at a much louder volume than I do. It sounds very clear to me. The smart tv aspect of it works very well, with it quite easy to stream content and to change sources between cable tv, dvd player, amazon prime, and anything else you may have hooked up to it. The stream-lined remote control (which doesn't have that many buttons) has a bit of a learning curve, and sometimes takes a few seconds when you turn on the tv before the voice commands (i.e. changing channels) will start to work. I still sometimes use my cable tv remote as well when looking at what's on and to read program descriptions. But the remote provided is actually very good once you get the hang of it, and the voice commands are really cool. It's a really good-looking tv -- the metal steel bezel is rather narrow, allowing for nearly the entire television to fill up with the beautiful picture. There are good connections on the back for 3 HDMIs, and other types of connections, including room for an antenna in case I decide to get rid of cable tv in the near future with all the easy streaming this tv allows me. There is even a composite connection which allowed me to hook up my old VCR/DVD recorder since I still have some rare old media I like to play and some things I still might want to record, dub and/or edit. I also have a blue-ray DVD connected via the HDMI cables. The tv will upscale the picture, making it look as much improved as it can.I also like the base which supports the tv; while it takes up a good deal of the tv stand by being under practically the entire width of the set, I feel that's a good thing in my case, since it makes it more secure and less likely to tip over than some of the skimpy bases which are just on the sides of some sets (one reason I didn't go for the 8000 series which has such a base, nor do I think that series had a composite connection).I really love this television, as it has brought much more beautiful colors into my life!

Value for money!
I was tracking this particular model from last year. The previous model KU7000 was popular and received so many positive reviews. I was waiting for this one as it is the second upgrade in this segment. Having its debut on March, 2017 at $799.99, it has already been sold a lot. I have been observing the ups and downs in the price and got an amazing deal on Amazon at $644.44 on July 9, 2017. In this price, getting a 49" 4k HDR 7-series TV is a massive bargain.Anyway, the picture quality is awesome as expected. There are lot of calibration tweaks available on different sites in the internet, you can adjust your settings to that. Adding a sound system would be great but it works superbly in my bedroom. I have also connected it with my laptop, which is just a HD laptop of 2012, but the upscaling on the TV is awesome. I got a 10ft HDMI Cable from Amazon in $12.99 and can work from leaning on the wall and from the bed! I have also connected portable HDD with the TV and watched movies flawlessly. The browser of the TV is fast and remote works fine!I intend to buy a PS4 Pro and play games on it. So far all the positive reviews that I read on Amazon before buying this TV have been correct for me. The only problem I faced was during connecting the stand with the TV. It seems that the screws are not designed to be totally connected. I think it provides flexibility and dampening effect to the TV during earthquakes or any other indirect vibrations. I tried strongly to insert the screws as much as possible. Anyway, it is working fine now.I really recommend this TV to anyone. It is future proof for next three years at the least, user friendly and has all the features necessary for gamers and users.
