Wren Bird Hse Red Cedar

It may be a bit difficult to clean this bird house out. I will have to remove the screws and take the roof off to empty the insides out. Otherwise it was great to see swallows trying to get in but the hole was a bit to small for them. I got this house up too late this year because the wren started making a nest in one of my flower pots. With little luck they will use it next season. My thanks to the manufacturer for a nice home for the birds.

The media could not be loaded.  I was concerned that the hole is 1-1/4" rather than 1-1/8" but apparently our Bewick's Wrens are slightly larger than the House Wren so I guess they don't mind.The first season was disappointing. But that was on me. Now that I have them facing east and the winds travel in this canyon n-s, as well as spaced further apart, I have had two of the three inhabited and it looks like they are waiting on the Mrs to check them out again as there is nesting material claiming a deposit by hanging out of the two boxes not currently in use.It is beyond sweet to listen to them and watch their back and forth as they bring insects and remove waste (as in video). I scatter tiny peanut chips around the area. At first they only fed the young insects. Now, a week later they are adding peanuts to their diet. The adults love peanuts.I didn't know the boxes were made in China. But I guess we live in a global economy. I hope Audubon is ensuring the workers get a living wage.
