This was perfect for what I needed it for (which was not to dispense toothpicks, so I can't comment on that). I use it with the lid off for metal and wood hor d'oeuvre picks. It's very sleek and modern looking and very sturdy.

I really like this dispenser. Works great and looks classy.

The holder came with a supply of toothpicks that were thinner than any I've ever seen. They were certainly much thinner than the kind you buy at the grocery store, so they worked very well. But when I added the grocery store toothpicks, now it's difficult to get them to dispense. I guess awkward would be a better word as you turn the dispenser upside down and then you have to grasp the bit of the end that comes out and pull it the rest of the way out. So not exactly what I had in mind. My wife tried to shake it kind harder when she turned it upside down and the top came off and toothpicks showered the floor. Kinda funny but a pain to clean up.

Dull looking metal. Does function well keeping.
