Predictable.
Although the book’s characters were somewhat realistic , I found the stories uninteresting and often predictable. If you like “love stories” this could be the book for you. I found some of the female characters annoying…. Maybe this was the era and setting! Possibly a good author! I read this for a book club and didn’t finish it- purposely. The genre was not my preference and this is the reason for my rating. I may try another book by this author but will read reviews carefully before I buy.

This is a far ranging book!
I found this book stunning in its range snd sweep, from the idyllic times for some between the wars and the devastation and terror, and austerity of the second and the terrible cost of war on all the people both in and out of various services, and the awful not knowing, all through the eyes of a young woman at the start of her secondary schooling and on to adulthood. I won't say more as it is a long novel and worthy of the discoveries it contains and for me more understanding of what it was like for the people who lived through it!

Revisting an old friend
How I live Rosamunde Pilchers work. The people are not perfect but are real and believable. However they inhabit a world of gentle middle class England. They take you to a world of pyblic school, tennis parties, swimming at the beach and dinner parties. A world of safety and warmth, where you live in old houses and have a secure circle of friends.

A bonus to find a Rosamunde Pilcher book I hadn`t read
I loved this book and was delighted when I saw it had been published. I thought I had read them all! I have enjoyed all Rosamunde Pilcher`s books and "The Shell Seekers" remains one of my favourite books. This collection of short stories certainly didn`t disappoint and because I knew this must definitely be the last book, I rationed myself to one story a day and was so sad to come to the end. I will be rereading it though as I continue to do with her other books.

Lovely old fashioned stories.
I didn’t cry at all the endings...I hope that they publish more of her unknown stories soon, plus Under Gemini and Snow In April for Kindle.
