If you like this series, I think you’ll be happy with this book
It seems unlikely anyone is going to start reading this series at book 26, so I’ll assume you know what to expect. Here we have more of Wesley and the team investigating the murder of woman near the town of Tradmouth. As they delve deeper they discover the woman herself was carrying out her own investigation into someone she believed had carried out multiple murders. There is a good selection of possible suspects, including the cast and crew of a truly awful regency romp film (a section written with tongue in cheek I suspect). At the same time the usual historical second string deals with the discovery of possible Roman remains by a local man during the nineteen twenties and the growing attraction between his younger wife and a visiting archaeologist. It’s an engrossing investigation rather than a psychological thriller or edge of your seat ride, but that’s fine by me. I’m happy to be dropped into the everyday world of the West Country and find out what the regular characters have been doing. If you like this series I think you’ll be happy with this book.

Great story with many twists and turns. Kept me in suspension until the end. I will remember the story for a long time
