You Get What You Pay For & This Beauty Is Worth Every Penny. High-Quality, Beautiful, Well-Designed, Easy to Install.
After recently moving into our new home it quickly became evident that opportunities for improvement were everywhere. One of these opportunities was in the shower. I'm about 6'1" and most heads tend to be at just about the right height to get me wet from the nipples down. I don't understand why you'd install the shower head against the far wall and only extend them out about 6" from the wall. This usually leads to lots of bending and contorting to ensure proper rinsage. Anyway, our new house was no different. I started shopping around for a replacement shower head about a week after we moved in and like everything else, I quickly found out that there are a ton of options. With prices starting at $20 and quickly heading into the thousands, I knew I had some homework to do.The shower stall in our master bathroom is one of those drop-in fiberglass dealies that all of the tract home builders are using. I wasn't about to start cutting and drilling my way around it and I certainly didn't want to mess around with re-plumbing the system (I sweated pipes during a shower installation once and nearly burnt down our house) so this cut out a large number of shower systems with such requirements. Speaking of requirements, here was what I wanted:-High-quality-Rain shower head-Extended shower arm-Handheld unit with adjustable flow-Minimal plumbing requiredThe PULSE Showerspas line has excellent reviews, installs in less than an hour (according to the box) and is built like a tank. You know how you can just tell that a product is built to last the first time you touch it? This is one of those products. The fittings, the valves, the finish, even the shower heads themselves are all made very well. Full disclosure - I actually ordered another showerhead/handheld combo unit and as soon as I took it out of the shoebox it was in immediately repacked it and sent it back. It was cheaply made and destined for failure. Anyway, I can't tell you how happy I am with this purchase. As far as installation goes, it took me about 90 minutes. I wouldn't call my installation typical, though, as I had to mess around with the shower neck length coming out of the wall to get it right. The included brass nipple that connects to the water line in the wall was just a bit too long so I ended up using the old escutcheon to fill some of the gap (see the close-up image). There's still a bit of brass showing, but I don't mind it all that much. Basically, you put the unit together and everything connects with hose fittings and rubber o-rings. They even include little baggies with a schmear of grease for the o-rings. Oh, and an allen wrench is also included for the set screws. They truly thought of everything. You will need to supply your own pipe wrenches and pliers, though. As far as home improvement installs go, this was about as painless as they get. There was one minor thing. The adhesive pad that attaches the bottom of the vertical pipe to the shower wall has a peel-off part that is a bit of a PITA to remove. And be careful that you've got everything plumb before you press it to the shower wall, because that sucker is very sticky. Seriously. It won't come back off.I've read online where some people have removed the check valves and other little pieces to improve their water flow rates, but I didn't have to monkey around with any of that. Our house has pretty killer pressure as it is, so even when running both the handheld unit and overhead rainshower head at the same time we get amazing flow. Lucked out in this aspect.Another great feature is the ratcheted adjustment into which the handheld unit sets. You adjust it and it stays put. A small but important feature that not every combo unit like this has.Something else you need to be aware of, the piping between the handheld unit and the overhead big shower head holds a pretty good amount of water. This means that as you're showering and using one or the other shower heads, the one you're not using is losing temperature. This is especially true of the overhead piece. I'm not saying it'll get cold, but it will cool down significantly and when you switch the valve from one to another you will notice. Also, make sure you've run hot water through both units before you get in the shower. That is, unless you like getting a few cups of ice cold water dumped on your head. I speak from experience on this one. It is a good way to get the heart rate up, though. So there you have it. Sure, you're probably not used to spending $150 on a shower head, but trust me when I tell you, you won't regret it. Along with toilet paper and beer, add shower heads to the list of things that are worth splurging on.

Great Outdoor Shower. Make sure to do the flow modification!!.
Purchased this shower for a new outdoor shower. Excellent brushed nickel finish. Very solid construction and likely to last several years. Installed professionally in a new shower; but can be easily installed in a DIY project. Here are some details of my installation with the modifications by other Amazon reviewers.1. Used a Pfister (1 temperature) valve with brushed nickel trim (Pfister R78-VUK and 014-300A). Perfect match in color/finish. Mounted at 44" leaving plenty of room between trim and the shower system. Shower head is at a typical 78".2. The factory flow from rain shower is a light shower (4 out of 10) and the handheld was very wimpy. The actuator turns the rain shower off when the handheld is on.3. Handheld shower restrictor. Remove the handheld from the flexible hose and look into the handle. There is a yellow flow restrictor "cartridge" that is held in place with a metal ring. You will see 4 yellow spokes and a black membrane behind it. Use a medium paper clip to make a small 90 degree hook. Pass the hook b/t the spokes and past the membrane. Hook the out edge and pull the cartridge out. Reassemble the shower handle.4. Inlet fitting restrictor. You will see a metal screen held in place by a ring clip. If you don't have a special tool, you can wrestle it out with a needle nose plier and screwdriver. You will damage the clip, but it it not needed. Remove the screen by pushing one side in, allowing you to get behind the screen to pull it out; or you can also use a needle. You will then see a gret cartridge with a black plastic in the center. Push in the center piece with a screwdriver and use the same paperclip hook to pull the grey cartridge out. Some parts will spring out as there is a spring behind these pieces. Pull out the spring and his plastic holder piece. Reassemble the shower system.5. You do not need to mess with the actuator. One reviewer opened up the actuator and removed a solid metal wheel with holes in it. This wheel is used to keep the actuator piston centered and aligned. If you remove this piece; the actuator will not work; and the flow will not be any better.6. Water flow is AWESOME now. The water flow is now about 3 times more volume than before. The light shower can now be adjusted to a heavy rainstorm. The handheld also works great and even give a nice massage.Few comments about he actuator...There are several reviews about the actuator being of poor design. It is supposed to turn the rain shower head off when using the handheld. After the modifications, my actuator still worked (you can hear the actuator moving with a click when you turn the diverter on/off). A minute later, the actuator stopped working and the rain shower stays on even when using the handheld. I opened the actuator several times to try to fix it but can't get it to work anymore. Piston/wheel and fitting are fine. Nonetheless, my kids actually prefer to have the rainshower ON when using the handheld sprays. The pressure is still very good even when both are being used. So, I my broken actuator actually works fine for my purpose.Overall, a great shower head and at an excellent price.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice shower with diverter valve at chest height
I was looking for a combination overhead / hand shower that had the diverter knob at chest height. The ones with the diverter knob up on the shower head are no good if you are looking for a shower that shorter people can use easily too. It does have a pause function, which is great, but I wish it was a button. Instead you have to "turn the dial" on the hand shower to get it to pause, meaning you have to pass through several spray patterns to get it to pause, and then back again to the pattern you want. I bought this shower so I can bathe my german shepherd, and let my elderly mother use the shower when she visits, she is at least 7" shorter than me.Build quality of the main unit (overhead shower and slide bar) feels very nice. The kit even includes little packages of grease for the o-rings. The hand shower does feel a bit plastic-y and cheap, compared to the rest of the unit. The attached soap dish was an attractive feature for me, but it is a bit high at the lowest point you can install it - likely because my shower arm is pretty high up. Also, be careful when re-installing the hand shower holder on the slide bar - it has an upside and a downside which they don't mention in the instructions, it does not work if you install it upside down, both sides look the same to me. The bottom of the slide bar attaches with a sticky pad, you peel the backing off. My tub surround is smooth, shower has been up 3 weeks, no issues. You do need to wait at least an hour for the adhesive to set before you take a shower.Installation was pretty easy (I'm a handy mid-forties woman). Instructions were a bit murky on the pipe nipple part though. You have to remove your old shower arm (not just the shower head), then screw a pipe nipple into the pipe inside the wall the shower head was connected to. They include a 2" pipe nipple which they say will fit "most" applications. They give directions for measuring, in case you need a different length (which you will need to buy at a hardware store). The instructions say to make sure you take into account any tile on the wall, etc. in the depth measurement. My tub surround has about a 1/2" 'lip' at the top, so I added it in to the measurement. Needed to buy a 2.5" nipple according to the measurement directions. As it turns out, the included piece would have worked great. The piece I bought ended up making the shower arm stick out past the decorative bezel (about a 1/2" funnily enough), which is a bit of an eyesore. I wasn't about to disassemble the whole thing to change it though, it works. Directions could be clearer.Overall, I am happy with this shower. Feels like nice quality. The rain shower head is nice, and it does have a ball swivel mount. Installation does not take too long.

Excellent product and customer service!
Had this installed by my shower contractor. He made it look easy and the finished product looks great and works very well. Love it! The shower head sticks out a bit far from the wall (not the fault of anyone but me when I designed the shower enclosure), so I emailed Pulse with a question. No joke, less than 10 minutes later I had a reply. This is great service!

Love love love this shower
I looked around a lot before settling on this shower and now that I've been using it for a month, am so glad to have found it. A plumber installed it in very little time, water pressure is good (it's a new build so that might be a factor), you can run the rain shower head and the handheld at the same time by simply turning a knob 90 degrees, and it looks amazing.
