A stunning novel of sacrifice and faith!
Sarah Sundin is my go-to author for World War II fiction, and she certainly doesn’t disappoint in this historical romance set in Paris prior to U.S. involvement in the war.Sarah is known for her meticulous historical research and grounding readers in the time and place, but even more so she excels at writing raw, honest characters who become your friends and whose spiritual journey challenges and encourages your own.I so enjoyed this read and didn’t want it to end. Highly recommended!

Until Leaves Fall in Paris by Sarah Sundin
Paris, France 1940’sSarah Sundin weaves a compelling story with historical events - Nazis-controlled Paris - woven within the fictional storyline. I love that ballerina Lucie Girard buys the Green Leaf Books bookstore as a way to keep it safe until a time when the owners can return to Paris. Lucie uses the bookstore as a way to pass messages in a unique way. At times, the danger walks right into the bookstore and Lucie must face it head-on. Some very tense moments that had me on the edge of my seat.Widower Paul Aubrey owns and operates a car factory. He longs to return to the States with his adorable 3-year-old daughter, Josie, before things become even more dangerous to remain. However, he must make a difficult decision when the Army approaches him and asks for his help. He too faces danger as it often walks into his car factory and poses a threat to Paul, his workers and those he is hiding. I love the stories Josie writes. They are not only entertaining but full of wisdom for a little girl so young. She captured my heart.Until Leaves Fall in Paris is a compelling story filled with danger and fear, hopes and dreams, spys and traitors, challenges, courage and bravery, love and faith. I enjoyed the “dear reader” section at the end of the book from the author.

drew me into the story from the beginning
This story drew me into the plot from the very beginning. The reader will be immersed in the world of Paris during the German invasion and occupation. I feel that the author really drew readers into the reality of the difficult position the Parisian people and foreigners were in during that time. The author seemed to really drill down into the feelings and tensions that would have been commonplace for those who stayed in France and for the varied reasons for staying. It is easy for people today to look back and scoff or judge others who might have appeared to even aid the Germans, but perspective is everything, and I cannot imagine the emotional, moral, and ethical dilemmas each person faced during that time. This book helps the reader to grapple with those thoughts, but the book also provides a great literary escape too. I highly recommend it as a well-written, well-researched, and well-developed piece of historical fiction.

Another Sarah Sundin Masterpiece!
Author Sarah Sundin is an expert on World War II and “Until Leaves Fall in Paris” is another absolutely magnificent period story.Lucie is a young American woman who has been a member of The Paris Opera Ballet for ten years and resigns to take over an English-language bookstore for a Jewish couple who needs to escape the Nazis. As the Germans work to outlaw American books and shut down the bookstore, Lucie coordinates with the Resistance to pass messages through the store.American Paul Aubrey owns a factory that appears to be supplying vehicles to the German military, when he is actually gathering information for the U.S. Army. He meets Lucie when he takes his four year old daughter, Josie, to a children’s program at Lucie’s bookstore and is smitten, but Lucie wants nothing to do with a Collaborator. However, Josie is able to charm her way into Lucie’s heart. The twists and turns of all of these pieces and more work together to make a suspenseful romantic story. Lucie, Paul and Josie must escape Paris once the Nazis announce intentions to round up and inter all American men. As they are set to leave Paris, a young Nazi soldier discovers Lucie’s connection to the Resistance. Their plan to quietly leave Paris and the war behind becomes a series of death defying ordeals. The author so masterfully handles the suspense of each character’s journey with historically accurate details of events from that time, that I was unable to put the book down for the final 15 chapters! This is another superb addition to my collection of Sarah Sundin books - definitely worth at least 5 stars!

A good story about difficult times in Paris during WW2 for two Americans.
A good story about difficult times in Paris during WW2 for two Americans. NAZI occupation of anywhere is always difficult reading as it is here. The brief epilogue was very useful for me to understand why any American would have remained in France during these horrendous times.

A solid good read
A good clean read. Not smarmy. Author did try to "impress" with the research she clearly put into reading the book but it's was rather obvious by meticulously naming ballet positions or other technical details.
