The Light We Lost
A cracking book. The sense of brooding menace is palpable and the characters are ‘unfolded’ just enough to make you interested in seeing what they do, and what happens to them in the sequel. A great read on its own, and a really good introduction to the series. Kyla never fails to impress.

Amazing unputdownable story!!
This is very different to your regular end of world story. That element takes a bit of a back seat (but not too much of a back seat!) to the main story of a murder mystery that’s gripping and has you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommended book and can’t wait for the next instalment!!

Excellent Beginning to a New Series
What a fantastic start to what is obviously going to be another amazing series by the hugely talented Kyla Stone. Right from the start we feel the brooding menace that threads throughout the book. Set against the rapidly increasing chaos caused by the aurora of the sun, leading to a rapid breakdown of society, we meet a cast of characters ranging from Lena and her beautiful Newfoundland dog Bear to the dark and brooding Eli. The characters are beautifully scripted and immediately pull you into their lives, to the extent that by the end of the book I was totally in love with Eli, go figure that one!!!This is a brilliant book by such a talented author. I can't wait for the next in the series and I absolutely want a Bear of my very own!!

A new series - enthralling!
The first book in a new series, this was really interesting to read. Set in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the story developed via three different people’s points of view. I found this to be easy to follow yet did give alternative ‘takes’ on what went on.The characters were believable, which is always good, and although they were each flawed, they were the kind of people with whom a reader could empathise, which I find is always vital with a good novel, so we care about what happens to the characters. It was nice to read a book of this genre which didn’t have the troubles caused by a virus, which surely we are all fed up of, but rather by a natural phenomenon. I can’t wait to see how the author develops this new and enthralling series!
