Perfect for office use and light exercise where you need to hear the world around you
[Update 16 months of use. Still love them.]I am a huge fan of bone conduction headphones, mostly because I work in an office in a position where I have to be able to hear the world around me, and I have a jogging route I like that's along a road, but they never sat quite right on my head and would start bugging me after awhile. Recently I bought a pair of "true wireless" earbuds and fell in love with the convenience and lightweight feel, but I never really liked the feeling of stuffing them into my ear, especially over long periods of time. And obviously they couldn't take the place of my headphones because they blocked sound. These take the best of both worlds. They aren't bone conduction so it doesn't need contact with your head; it's more like having tiny speakers that whisper into your hear. I can hear the world around me, I can hear my music perfectly, and the world around me can't hear my music so I'm not bothering my coworker sitting six feet away from me. They're light enough that they sit on my ears comfortably, such that I've forgotten I've had them in until I walk away from my phone and my music stops. It took some getting used to, I think. For a few days they felt like they were pinching something in my ear on one side but that went away.I should say, I am not an audiophile by any definition of the word. Also I'm listening to a lot of lo-fi music while I work. That said, they sound great to me. Your mileage may vary.Negatives: 7 hour battery life is not quite enough to get me through a workday, but if I charge them during my lunch hour it's not a problem, and if I forget, I can still leave one side charging and the other side playing. The case is also bulkier than most true wireless earbuds. I get that these have a much wider profile, so it's necessary, but I would like to see if they could make a the case a little thinner in future iterations. But the headphones fit nicely into the case via magnet and the lid magnetically closes nice and tight.I'd say, if you need this, you know you need it. I'm very happy with these.Edit: three months in these are still my go-to. They're so light I still forget I have them on sometimes. No earphone tips that get dirty and need to be cleaned is also a plus. Battery life is still an annoyances sometimes and it'd be great if there was a button that let you disconnect from the phones instead of through the device. There's still nothing on the market today that I would swap these for.[Update 16 months or so]These are still going great. Right now I'm using them primarily in the office. I bought a second pair of similar but cheaper wireless earphones: one thing I noticed with the cheaper ones there's more audio bleed. Like I can wear these and no one around me is going to hear my music, as if it's going straight into my ear. The cheaper ones are more like tiny speakers near my ear. They have more batteries life but I still prefer Acreo brand ones for sound quality and privacy. These have also been unexpectedly good for traveling in e.g. subways, airports, etc. because I can hear my music but I can also hear around me. I just have better spatial awareness with these vs in-ear earbuds.Hoping we see an update from Acreo sometime. These have been pretty nice.

Better than expected
I went into this purchase with low expectations given the fact that they are “open”. I have nice headphones for listening to music, but I wanted something comfortable and open for listening to anything non-music for the rest of the time. They exceeded my low expectations and I was actually surprised. The audio quality is better than you’d expect. It’s not going to sound as good as expensive over-ear or in-ear headphones for music, of course, but that should be obvious. For everything else like TV, movies, podcasts, videos, etc. they are great. They sound significantly better than top-of-the-line bone conduction headphones. Night and day difference. And if you really wanted to use them for music, they’re honestly not terrible. There’s just going to be a large lack of depth in the bass. The bass is there, but it’s not amazing and just not going to sound the same since the speaker is out of your ear with no seal at all. They are so comfortable there have been times I put a video or show on and reached for the case to put them on, only to realize I had forgotten I was already wearing them. The ear hooks behind my ears are the only parts that touch me. The main body of it with the speaker hovers just over my ear without touching. The ear hooks are a rubbery material and slightly flexible. They stay in place very well; I’d have to be shaken upside-down for them to fall off. They have a low-latency mode you can toggle on, at the cost of increased battery usage. I usually don’t use it because the latency isn’t that bad. But if you really had to have minimal delay between audio and video, the option is there and it works. The USB-C charging port and wireless charging are nice bonuses. As for battery life of the buds, I haven’t timed it, but it’s long enough that I don’t suspect it to be far off from the advertised times. Wish it was much longer so I could just use them all day without worrying about them dying, but it’s not bad as is.

Not bad. Not great.
02-May-2022 UPDATE:Swapped these out for my bulky work headset. They didn't work for my original intention but have found new life with a different purpose. +1 star back. No complaints about my voice quality, and you don't need audiophile grade sound for conference calls._______________Original:I have tiny ear holes and regular earbuds are painful almost immediately, even with the smallest included size plug. Was looking for open earbuds to prevent that, and also allow me to listen to music in one ear without drowning the world out.The ride with these has been a rollercoaster. The packaging feels quite premium. Open the case and.... The left one is on the right side and vice versa? I keep grabbing the wrong one. If you can manage to get it positioned correctly, volume seems fine. Audio quality is average. I have very little experience with speakers this small (see above note about pain) so I don't have much of a fair comparison. I have over ear cans and decent desk speakers. Much easier to pack quality into the bigger size.I mostly wanted them to play Magic on Friday nights. Due to the conbo of them being open and the noise in the room being completely unstable, they bounce between too quiet to hear and uncomfortably loud (without me touching the volume). As for physical comfort, I'm at the card shop about 5 ish hours. These are comfortable for 3.5-4.5 hours. I have yet to make it the entire night without them starting to hurt the top of my ear. Battery life hasn't been an issue at 5 hours of fairly high volume.I don't regret buying them. They have their use, but I don't think they'll be my final answer. With some small adjustments, I can see the next version of these being a lot better. If you're in the market for open earbuds, these are worth a try as long as you're not expecting Premium Quality (tm).
