Newhouse Hardware CHM4 Doorbell Chime, White

We had an old doorbell and cover that has been in our house since the 70s. It was big and ugly. We had the hallway repainted and I decided I wanted something that looked better and not so dated. We ordered it, and hubby installed it. It works perfectly so far. It is a great replacement for what we had.

Upon receiving this doorbell chime box I was so happy to get it since the one I had in my house has been up there for the last 30 years or so. I open the box and everything looked good, so I proceeded to install it. Just take note that your old doorbell will be slightly bigger than this one. So if there was paint around your old doorbell you're going to see outlines around this new one if you get what I'm saying.Anyways, so I installed this one with the hardware provided. It's got drywall anchors so make sure you use the correct size drill bit for it. Upon the first testing of the doorbell, I noticed something weird. It seemed very hollow at the doorbell. Sound was short. Now what I mean by short is it doesn't have that long "ding dong" bell sound. It's also not very loud. All the time I spent installing it I didn't want to pull it down and put back up my old one so I just kept it up. I couldn't recommend buying this.

Item is small and 98 % plastic. Installed with a new transformer, with correct voltage selected and one of the plungers started to vibrate loudly as soon as power was applied. After about 15 minutes, it stopped and the chime worked and could be heard throughout my house. The next day, it failed and one of the plungers was burned and frozen, rendering the chime useless. Returning for a full refund. Hopefully, I can find a product made in the USA as this chime is junk, poorly made and manufactured in China! What more can I say!
