The old unit had become brittle over time and cracked and broken into pieces. The unit does not come with instructions and YouTube is not 100% completely instructive, but I was able to figure out how to take the console apart and replace this shift gate dirt cover. It works as well original unit and now protect the inner workings of the shift console from debris falling inside.

this part has an integral metal tab which engages the manual mode for this vehicle. It also restores the neat factory appearance instead of the sh!t box POS.

Works great. Fixed my shifter. Pain in the ass to pull out all the console hardware in order to get to this part though. Dinged it one star for the original part going bad in the first place. They should make this out of silicone or something similar to retard degradation from the heat and sun.
