Zip Cord lamp Wire, 18/2 SPT-1, Black 50' roll.

This lamp wire seems of good quality and is being used for a big lamp renovation project. Keep in mind that SPT-1 wire is no longer UL approved for use in places where the cord is exposed (ie most lamp cords). This is because over time the insulation can wear down and cause a fire. SPT-2 wire, which has the same gauge but thicker insulation, is the new standard. However, there are many lamps where SPT-2 will simply not fit in old pre-war lamp pipes and only SPT-1 will work. Also, many people don't like SPT-2 for smaller lamps because it is so thick and stiff. So, you have to make a choice, but be aware of the differences. For internal wiring, it's often convenient to use "fixture wire", which are individual 18 ga. wires (with white and black colored insulation) that are easier to thread through the innards of a lamp than zip cord. Fixture wire is more rigid than zip cord and will hold its shape and be easier to fold and bend into the tight accomodations required by some lamps.

Great. A little smaller jacket that SPT-2. Copper tins well with standard lead 60/40 led solder.Trace shows UL/CSA approved. 300 volt rating. 105 degrees C.Looks like 22-24 strand (I may have lost count) Flexible.Comes in a roll (Not spool) from Goodmans.

This was good wire not great. The plastic insulation takes a set and is just hard to straighten out. Needs a higher grade of plastic

Wire did it job. Insulation was very pliable, not brittle.

The wire worked out great for the purpose I needed it for. No complaints here.
