Good sealant, with reservations
The backup camera in our RV died due to water intrusion. Bought a replacement camera from the dealer. The camera is mounted on top of the roof above the rear doors. The cable passes through a circular hole in the roof. The original was sealed with some sort of black sealant.Spoke to the manufacturer and they recommended Nuflex 311 sealant. It's described as self-leveling, which had some implications I wasn't familiar with as this was the first time dealing with an issue like this and RV sealant.Removing the old sealant was difficult, finally got it off. The hole in the roof is almost exactly the size of the Tyco connector on the end of the camera cable. Once I got the connector through the hole, the cable itself took up less than 1/4 of the hole.I guess self-leveling means pretty runny. On a 60-degree-F day it was runny, and when I tried to seal the hole in the roof a lot of it leaked through into the RV. It took a number of applications, each one closing up the hole a bit more before it was finally sealed. Time will tell how well it seals and holds up.I checked the manufacturer's web site on information on using it and there was little to no information available. Maybe I just missed it.Perhaps some other type of RV sealant would have been a better choice for sealing a hole this size. I'm thinking the Nuflex would be fine around things like frames for AC units, vents, screws, etc. where there isn't a fairly large hole to fill and seal.BTW, I learned that self-leveling sealants are for use on horizontal surfaces only. They can't be used on vertical surfaces as they will simply run down the material.

If you own a Winnebago, this is the stuff you need
This is what Winnebago factory uses for the fiberglass roofs (its changed name from original product, but this is what they will send you if your order directly)

Delivered with date codes scratched off
Beware! This is a product with a shelf life! If it expires in the tube it will not cure and cause damage, grief, and additional repair expense. I had a good email back and fourth with Heng's about this. Just avoid purchasing this online - do it in person and check for the date code. Thanks for the extra hassle Newsome's !!!

Shelf Life 20 Months Past Manufacturer's Recommendation
My Heng's Self Leveling Caulk order was delivered 4/25/2024 with production the date of 9/21, that is around 27 months old. Heng's told me it has a 12 month shelf life and they wouldn't sell old product. This reseller said they buy it fresh from Heng's and why would Heng's sell it to them if it was not still good. I'm not putting blame on anyone, just saying there is some older sealant out there. I put it on my fiberglass Tiffin roof vents immediately. It was pretty gooey for 2 solid weeks and is still pretty soft at 3 weeks, not sure if that means anything. I order a second tube thinking it would have a newer production date on it. The new tube was delivered with the date sanded off. I'm sending the tube with the production date removed back.
