Follow the strange instructions. When burning use a polished ceramic plate or stainless surface and face brown side down. Then bend corners to create a gap between the plate or stainless of an appropriate1/8"- 3/16". Then light a paper edge with a lighter. Either way this makes a strong effect and a good purchase. Wash your hands after! This isn't very toxic at all on skin contact, very toxic ingested.
