Five Alarm Fire
The aesthetic of this set is really good and I really enjoyed the angular garage sidings, cleverly designed and makes for a really interesting looking building. It nicely offsets the blockiness of the main Fire Station and uses a surprisingly small number of bricks to achieve the effect. Even better is the new style firemans pole that can actually be used by your minifigures - win win for this builder. The build itself is stepped through in pictorial format and never adds a large number of pieces at once so it is really easy to figure out where everything should go. Spread over 3 booklets it gives you easy stop and start points over the 6 included bags of pieces.Alongside the main building are a fire truck and a helicopter. I love the fact the helicopter has a boom on the bottom to drop water on to fires, something I haven't seen before on the Lego City sets. The water is included and it simply "flicks" out - only 1 spare is included so expect to spend a fair of time crawling around on the floor looking for that pesky piece you just fired. There is even a water gun included in the fire truck. There are 5 minifigures included in the set - from the Fire Chief to Firefighters they have you covered. There are just no civilians. You do get a kitten and a dog to round the set out though so I'm not mad about it.Great playset that is really good value as it is nicely sturdy when constructed and the road plates give you some configuration options to squidge this in to a Lego tabletop City. Add in a couple of green spaces with rescue scenarios and you have everything you need to play for hours. Many thanks to the Amazon Vine Program for a review copy of this product. Great fun!
I remember when I was young I had a Lego Fire Station and I played with it all the time. In those days the focus was more on the building, but these days the focus of many Lego sets is the interactive play and characters. This is super, really encourages imaginative play for kids and this set is a perfect example of how well that works. There is a firestation, with a command tower. There is a cool fire engine that actually has a working hose - don't worry, it isn't real water but there is a lego water spray that shoots out, a nice touch! There is also a helicopter that drops water on fires too. Kids love these features! There are 5 lego figures that come with this, so it's a good range of people to create some fun storylines. There are also features that encourage stories - a tree that a cat can get stuck up, a bin fire, and a recycling unit fire. This has already provided hours of fun and will be a firm favourite for years to come, the great thing about lego is that kids will play with it for years which means it is a good investment! This playset is recommended for 6 years plus and I think that is a good range. There are quite a few little bits that could be a choking hazard for youngsters. The instructions are clear and easy to build. I like that the playset can be used on its own, or it can also be added to other lego sets - creating a lego universe.Highly recommended!!!

Good play value at a reasonable price point.
Here we have the latest iteration of Lego city fire station. I remember having Lego fire brigade sets when I was a child in the 1980s and this core theme has been a Lego staple throughout the years. I recall the older sets having bigger buildings, but these more modern Lego city sets are more about the vehicles and play features like fires and cat rescues. The fire station itself is rather simple, having three floors, but limited play space on each one. It does have a fireman’s pole to the side however which the minifigures can slide down! A single slide up garage is included for the fire engine and a small helipad is situated on its roof. The fire engine is the best of the vehicles, really looking the part and utilising the newly introduced neon yellow colour to great effect. It has an articulated water cannon shooter on the roof and an opening compartment for storing fire fighting equipment. The helicopter is fairly small (well it needs to be to fit on the tiny little helipad!) but also has disc shooters that fire water elements for blaze tackling action. The set comes with one of the new road plates so the set can easily be integrated with other recent Lego city sets. In fact, I’d recommend picking up the expansion pack of these road plates (sold separately) if you are considering building up a Lego city of your own. Although many sets include single plates, the extras allow you to space buildings a bit further apart and make more interesting road layouts. Over the road from the station is a small tree for the cat to get stuck in and a recycling bin that can catch fire. Five minifigures and two animals are included in the set.The overall build isn’t that big, but given the moderate price point, as well as the amount of play features and accessories you get, I’d say it offers value for money. In fact, it combines particularly well with the fire brigade set (the one with the burning sardine factory) which offers a good selection of additional vehicles and figures. If you can afford the two sets I’d recommend considering them as a joint purchase.
