Better written than part 2 and just as fun as both its predecessors, Extinction offers a fun thrill-ride of mutant zombie action for Millaphiles as the franchise story continues to evolve with the T-virus.So, as we enter the third installment in Alice’s (Milla Jovovich; The Fifth Element 1-2, Resident Evil, Ultraviolet) virus-geddon apocalypse saga, she strangely wakes up EXACTLY as she did in part 1, in the same shower, puts on the same dress, encounters the same death-laser hallway and some other high-tech boobie-traps…but wait…then…she dies!?!?!?! And then Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen; Game of Thrones, Darkness, Resident Evil: Apocalypse), in a routine tone, gives an order to dispose of the body…?Director Russell Mulcahy (Razorback, Highlander 1-2) swings for the fences, accelerating our zombie apocalypse into the desolate wasteland phase. Alice narrates a brief flashback introduction to catch us up with the story, which picks up a bit after where it left off in 2004—with Alice wandering the apocoscape of the now Walking Dead¬-ified world in which people will do anything to survive. Moreover, the zombie-action feels more like a zombie movie at the times when it should (i.e., the zombie aspect doesn’t suck like it did in than parts 1-2)—even the zombie “setting” felt more zombie-appropriate. This is the first of the series to get zombies right and the swarming murder of zombie crows was a nice touch that yielded high impact.The Resident Evil films—regardless of their lack of critical claim—consistently deliver creative shots. Here, the grand sweeping scale of the futuristic sandy Hellscape speckled with plague-swarms of undead birds crisply contrasting the sky compounds this measure powerfully. Watch this in HD or 4K if you can. As our survivors combat winged pestilence with flame-throwers the beautiful crispness smacks of a less refined Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), even if only for a minute. It is a spectacle, that fire against the sky. Comparable scenes include brilliant lighting in the laser-trap hallway (2002) and the closing scenes during Alice’s escape (2004).New to the Zompocalypse crew, Claire (Ali Larter; House on Haunted Hill, Final Destination 1-2, Heroes) joins Carlos (Oded Fehr; The Mummy, Resident Evil: Apocalypse) and others from part 2 as a team of nomadic Zombiegeddon survivalists. And in this third installment, the Zombiegeddon world-building is in full force. We get a solid feel for the scavenging, odd skill sets, and limiting resources very quickly.I feel like the stunts in this sequel eclipse those of parts 1-2 (in which they felt totally phoned in). I also remain grateful for the zombie dogs which are consistently done with practical effects in parts 1-3. The zombie dog gore was simple, but worked very well. And the superhuman jumps were less Crouching Tiger (as in slower) and more Blade II (i.e., more dynamic).Alice has become something different than before. We have watched he evolve from highly trained (2002) to a virus-fueled superhuman (2004), and now develop telekinetic psychic powers worthy of the X-Men. But despite this, from her demeanor to her fight choreography, I find Alice a more credible heroine now than ever. Perhaps helping her credibility is that in this third installment she may be naked, but she affords eager viewers no nudity this time around. Although she does continue to wear thin shirts and no bra. You know, just keepin’ it classy. LOL.Our final boss bad guy in this installment is easily the most satisfying of these first three movies. The CGI still clearly appears dated, but this creature looks far more interesting and twisted and the final fight doesn’t suck for a change. When our favorite mad scientist becomes infected and mutates, he becomes a fungus-like tentacle monster. It’s fun. In fact, the whole movie is. I’m quite surprised this one gets so much flack. I loved it. I’ve loved rewatching the series so far and I think their entertainment value holds up quite well.Just as each movie began where the last ended and clearly indicated that a sequel was on the way, so does Alice here announce her intentions to murderously climb up the corporate ladder for the higher-up Umbrella execs who seek her blood which is apparently the key; the next evolution of the T-virus. Stay tuned to see how part 4 (Afterlife) holds up…

My favorite one out of the whole series.

Taking place not long after the events of Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction finds the T-virus spread all throughout the planet, leaving a handful of nomadic survivors in what has become a barren wasteland. Among them is Alice (Milla Jovovich), the genetically altered hero and renegade experiment of the Umbrella Corporation, who searches for survivors. Also among the zombie-ridden wasteland is Claire Redfield (Heroes' Ali Larter), who travels in a survivor-filled caravan with Alice's old mates Carlos (Oded Fehr) and LJ (Mike Epps). As they attempt to make a trip to Alaska, where the virus has supposedly not reached, Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen) prepares a final plan to lure Alice back to continue his research. More than likely the final live-action film based on the video game series, Resident Evil: Extinction is by far the best of the film series, boasting the most action and bloody violence. Paul W.S. Anderson once again writes, while this time around Russell Mulcahy (the original Highlander) directs with plenty of visual and enough visceral flair. Also featuring Ashanti, Spencer Locke, Linden "Johnny Cage" Ashby, and Jason O'Mara as Wesker (!), Resident Evil: Extinction also manages to pay the most homage to Capcom's video game series more than any of the previous films to boot. That alone should be enough for you to check out Resident Evil: Extinction if you haven't already, as fans of the previous films and the games both should be more than satisfied with what they get here.

So, attempts to contain the T-virus to Raccoon City have failed. Great. Now the virus has spread throughout the world, and those who have not been effected yet live a life reminiscent of Mad Max. However, all hope is not lost when you have a saucy, zombie-butt kicking super woman wielding a set of kukri knives and telekinetic powers. Alice is back, and she's not happy.We learn just how evil and how large Umbrella is in Extinction. Dr. Isaacs is attempting to create a anti-virus of sorts that he hopes will domesticate the undead. I wouldn't call them domesticated, but they are now slightly smarter, stronger and significantly faster! Alice must pull out all the stops if she wishes to defeat the super undead, zombie crows, outlaws, and tentacles...yes, the infamous Tyrant makes an appearance.The majority of this movie takes place in well lit areas - an oddity for a zombie flick, but it works well. The speed and ferocity of the super undead makes up for the lack of the dark, claustrophobic confinements that we loved in the 2002 release. At times, it feels more like an action movie a la Apocalypse, but with a good dose of that good ol' Resident Evil suspense. Unlike Apocalypse, Extinction is a nice blend of action and horror that never departs from the moody Resident Evil universe.Picture quality is phenomenal. It rivals, if not surpasses, the brilliant 2002 release. This movie is a showpiece that every HD buff should own. Clarity, detail, and color is unrivaled. The audio will blow you away as well. Bass is tight and clean - crystal clear. I hope you have a good surround setup!The special features are what we have come to expect with a modern release, but with a twist. This Blu-ray uses picture in picture throughout the movie to show behind the scenes, art boards, and more. It is a very cool feature that I would like to see more of. Another notable feature is the 1080i, 30 minute, four part documentary about the film. As always, the filmmaker's commentary is insightful and revealing. There is no cast commentary this time, but it is not missed. Extinction easily has the best offering of special features in the trilogy.Extinction puts the Resident Evil series back on track. They have managed to achieve a perfect blend of action, horror, and suspense all while making the ballsy decision to set it in the daytime. The picture and audio quality alone warrants a rental if nothing else. I enjoy the resident evil movie saga it just keeps getting better

Wer hätte damals 2002 gedacht, dass sich der Film zum gleichnamigen Spiel "Resident Evil" zu solch einem Verkaufsschlager entwickeln würde? Vor allem der damals noch nicht so sehr bekannten Milla Jovovich (die man immerhin etwas wortkarg aus "Das 5te Element" kannte) verhalf dies zu einem absoluten Karriereschub. Doch kann der dritte Teil an die beiden Vorgänger heranreichen?Fakt ist auf alle Fälle, dass der Film zum Großteil bei Tageslicht spielt, so dass schon mal die düstere Atmosphäre sehr schwer zu schaffen ist. Doch das gelingt Regisseur Russell Mulcahy dennoch, wobei hier vor allem die Szene an der verlassenen Tankstelle mit den Zombie Krähen zu erwähnen ist. Milla Jovovich fügt sich hier perfekt in die Rolle ein, spielt die abgebrühte Zombie-Killerin mit Bravour und überzeugt dabei durch absolute Coolness mit einer verführerischen Endzeit-Erotik. Da Mittlerweile fast die ganze Welt aus Zombies besteht ist nicht schwer anzunehmen, dass der Metzel und Action Gehalt hier noch mehr zugenommen hat. Irgendwie erinnert mich der Film an eine Action Variante von George A.Romero's "Day of the Dead" bzw. "Land of the Dead", wobei aber auch, wegen der Endzeit Stimmung und der Landschaften, gelegentlich "Mad Max" grüßen lässt.Zwar hat man sich mit diesem Film etwas vom Spiel entfernt und zeigt sich selbstständiger, aber dennoch ist "Resident Evil - Extinction" eine saustarke Fortsetzung geworden. Ich kann mich nicht wirklich entscheiden, welcher Teil der Beste ist! Der erste brachte alles ins Rollen, doch mangelt es hier an Gore-Effekten. Der zweite hatte mehr Gore und Action und der dritte scheint quasi das Resultat daraus zu sein. Witzig ist übrigens das offene Ende, so dass mancher Fan eventuell auf eine Fortsetzung hoffen kann, die ja mittlerweile auch schon bestätigt ist!An Bild und Ton ist an sich nichts auszusetzen, wobei "Nicht-Widescreen-Fernsehgerät"-Besitzer mit dem 2,40:1 Bild sicherlich nicht ihre Freude haben dürften, hehehe. Leider ist das Bonusmaterial lediglich durchschnittlich ausgefallen. Der Audiokommentar ist ja mittlerweile schon obligatorisch, die Deleted Scenes sind ganz interessant, wie auch die Making ofs... Die Interviews hätten gerne noch etwas ausführlicher sein können, da erfährt man in manchem TV-Special ja noch mehr. Schön ist übrigens, dass das Featurette "Jenseits von Racoon City - Hinter den Kulissen" komplett in HD-Qualität enthalten ist, auch wenn der Perfektionist dies hier von jedem Special Feature erwartet hätte.Rundherum eine starke Blu-ray, die jedem Fan der Reihe gefallen dürfte!

Having watched and enjoyed the first two Resident Evil movies, I was keen to see this third instalment, and am happy to say it is brilliant development of the story. I am a fan of Milla Jovovich, and think that she plays the role of Alice perfectly, and becomes a strong focal point throughout the Resident Evil series. If you enjoyed the first two movies in the Resident Evil series, you will love "Extinction".In contrast to the previous movies, "Extinction" takes place in daylight, and in a sweltering desert landscape. This immediately gives the film a new dynamic. The scare factor is still evident, although presented in a far more subtle way. There are some clever twists in the storyline, which are good to see.This movie looks visually stunning, and features some great camera work and editing. Unlike its prequel (Apocalypse), this new movie doesn't feature as much of Milla's Martial Arts skill - although her blade work in the fight scenes will still impress.It is a shame that Milla Jovovich is criticised so much about her acting, because she does produce a great performance in the lead role. The supporting cast are also excellent. This helped to develop a bond between the characters, which certainly engages the viewer far more.If you were not a fan of "zombie" movies, I would still recommend seeing "Extinction". It is an entertaining watch, and the movie soundtrack is great too.I loved this movie and am now looking forward to the next one!Yanek

El blu ray llegó muy rápido y como característica en buen estado a pesar de llegar dentro de "bolsita", eran mejor las cajas, se sentía mejor protección para los productos. Aún así llegó bien y en buen estado y la compré en precio muy bueno también.
