Q: Is this a safe alternative to aluminum foil?

I would think so, since foul will react to acidic foods with a black discoloration, if the food comes in contact with the foil

I don't think that there is a warranty on this. Do ceramic casserole dishes normally come with a warranty?

Q: Can you buy a lid to fit it?

I did not see any related lids for this product, and there was no promotional offers enclosed with the dish, My reason for buying this product was for it depth. Most 13 x 9 pans tend to be a bit shallow 1.5 - 2 in deep. The exterior of this pan has a shallow ripple to it which would likely make a close fitting lid difficult. A good candidate for a product like "Stretch & Seal"
