This was a gift for someone but I tested it out well before I wrapped it! It's a nice-sized day bag to put your lunch in, plus a change of shirt and other edc items. It isn't a school bag size so don't buy it for that purpose because you won't fit folders and large books in it! An ideal reading bag otherwise though. The bag is organised well so imo it's ideal for your edc; including an 'admin' style area with pockets for pens, penknife/multitool, wallet, phone etc for convenience and neatly hidden away by the front flap.This bag has a good amount of pockets for its size, including side pockets with one side pocket unzipping to expand wide enough to put a water bottle, flask or umbrella in, although the one other long zipped side pocket looked like it'd hold the size of a single use water bottle but it was too tight a fit; only by a very small margin but it was a gift so I didn't push it in just in case! It's probably a better (and a good) size for a small-medium travel mug though, or to put a phone or your wallet and keys in and other items that you need easy access to; just swing the bag on its side for top access. Left handers will unfortunately have the side pocket underneath the bag when it's swung on its side so please bear that in mind. The person I bought the bag for is left-handed but didn't mind not having top access. They were so happy with the bag it didn't matter and they added they wouldn't want to carry it swung it on its side anyway! Yes, why would you want to do that? ;)For a smaller bag I was impressed it could hold so many and different sized items and still have a fairly decent amount of room in the main pocket! I didn't check to see if it could hold a tablet as I didn't have mine at the time, but I think it'd fit an 8-9" and maybe even a 10", but don't take my word on the 10" size there because I'm not sure. I think it says if it can or not in the listing.The bag is actually better made than I expected and it's a good quality bag too. I wasn't sure about the badge on the front but actually it suits it! It's not so big it stands out and I think it gives the bag a good and more expensive look. This bag is certainly strong enough to carry a full or heavy-ish load well and the generous length of straps and a lightly padded shoulder strap makes the bag comfy to wear (you won't get this bag too heavy because of the size so I think it's just the right amount of padding) and the smaller size doesn't look odd on your back, even if you are taller or bigger than average size.I happily recommend this bag! I researched a lot of similar size and style bags on Amazon before choosing this one. It's without a dedicated USB (power bank) port but that wasn't necessary for the person I bought the bag for. Besides, your phone etc can be charged inside the bag just fine! I also liked this bag because of the 'take down' front cover which gives extra security from pickpockets although you can wear this bag on your front if that's a concern.I really like the versatile use of his bag and the way it gives you several carry options. I hope you'll like this bag as much as I do! It's not waterproof, in fact I'd say it'd only protect your stuff from a light shower, but it's made of fabric (with sturdy zips) and there are plenty of waterproofers out there to make it more water resistant, although I can't comment on waterproofing as I didn't try it and it could change the colour or texture of your bag.There are a lot of bags similar to this one to browse through (especially on Amazon), so I say if you like the look of this bag you should order it! I don't think you'll be disappointed and if somehow you are just return it! It's a really handy sized sling bag and was ideal for the person I bought it for as they have a shoulder injury. No, there isn't a strap attached to secure the bag across your body and no USB port, so if you need those two features this bag isn't for you. As far as I'm concerned though, I'd buy this for myself if I'd not bought this as a gift!
