Air assist for xTool D1 Laster
Definitely recommend if you want to add air assist to an xTool D1 laser.I have been using the xTool D1 5W laser cutter for a year and I am very satisfied with its performance and ease of use. However, I noticed that the laser smoke was affecting the visibility thru the shield and quality of the cut. so I decided to add an air assist feature to blow away the smoke and improve the cutting results. I did not want to spend a lot of money on a professional air assist system, so I looked for some DIY alternatives online. I found out that some people were using air pumps for fish tanks and some custom nozzles (like this one) to create their own air assist devices. I bought an air pump from a nearby store, some 4 mm tubing from the internet, and this nozzle. The nozzle was slightly bigger than the lens, so I needed a spacer to fill the gap. The gap was about 2 mm. The nozzle came with two screws, but it would have been hard to align them with the laser beam. So I used a thin piece of material that I had in my scrap box, about 0.7 mm thick, and cut it to fit the space between the lens and the nozzle. Since the space was on both sides of the lens, the total fill was 1.4 mm (2x0.7). I inserted it and tightened the screw. The result was very effective, as you can see in these pictures. I took off the shield for better visibility.

Add air assist to any machine
I have a Universal Laser System M300, long discontinued. They do make a laser assist, but it is $$$ and very hard to find. The bottom of the laser lense housing is a flat steel box with a hole. With a bit of 3M body molding / automotive tape applied to the bottom of the housing, I cut out the hole for the laser and attached this brass nozzle on, centering it as best I could. For the large hole where the laser enters from the left side, , I covered the opening with tape, let the laser burn a mark at 5% power. I removed a 1/4" hole around that in the tape for clearance. A hobby air compressor provides the air connected to the side input tube with silicone hose from Amazon. To keep tge tubing from dragging, I attached a belt key chain zip reel ( thread cable type, not metal links) to the loose hose in the middle and to the rear cabinet. The laser head can move freely and the hose doesn't get into the laser path.Does it work? I had problems with flames cutting acrylic or even wood on longer slower cuts of 1/8 materials with this air blowing down, it hits the cutting surface and blows out in a circle. It cools the cut and really reduces burn marks, resin deposits, smoke marks. Biggest advantage for my machine is the laser cutting lense area is now pressurized, air blowing out the nozzle and the laser input hole meaning no smoke can get in and coat or damage the expensive mirror or lense. Cutting power isn't affected any more and it stays clean. While not meant for the M300 specifically, this nozzle was easy to adapt and added a feature making my commercial laser just that much better to use.DO IT.

Improved my laser
I have a 7w Jtech laser. The opening on this nozzle is too large to clamp on to the laser with the provided hardware. But I over came this by using longer grub screws. With the nozzle install, I now see the expected improvements, better cutting and less scorching, associated with air assist. Here are the grub nuts I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QFVRS77?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Fits Xtool D1 with 16mm lens
I took a gamble and bought it for my xtool d1. With the two set screws I don't worry about it falling off during use and they center the nozzle so it doesn't interfere with the laser beam. It also doesn't interfere with the cross hairs. It is a good alternative to the 3d printed ones which are less sturdy. Just add an aquarium pump, drill a hole in the shield and you have a solid air assist system on a budget. Hopefully this helps someone.

Excellent quality air nozzle
Fits my Fox Alien 20W LED laser perfectly. Easy to install. Just hold it in place and tighten the 2 included set screws. Put the Fox Alien air pump hose on the fitting and it is ready to go. I would recommend cleaning the laser lens before installing because the nozzle covers the lens. Probably be the last time you will need to clean it with the air flow keeping the lens clear. Highly recommended.
