Works great

This is a big tool, a very big tool. Definitely falls within specialty, since it's 20" long and has some weight to it. But it's also a good took, solidly built and dressed in the famous Channellock blue. The jaws opening as wide as they do adds versatility to it, and the bottom jaw has a curve along its edge rather than being flat like the smaller offerings which aids in getting a solid grip without having to have the handles all the way closed to do it.Yeah there's a certain other company that has a bigger one and has a button, but if you're not looking to spend considerably more and tongue-and-groove works fine for you, this is what you're looking for.

Our 8-person spa was purchased in 2011 and I do all of the maintenance on it, including recently buying a Balboa Heater M7 VS With Studs 4Kw from Amazon and replacing the shorted-out one. The heater has two large-diameter fasteners, one on each end, which required the Channellock 480 BIGAZZ Tongue and Groove Pliers, to loosen them and, after the replacement was installed, to tighten them again. From time-to-time, other fasteners need tightening and the pliers make it easy. If you have a spa or hot tub with large diameter fasteners (nuts) and you do your own maintenance, I recommend investing in this product.

Only flaw imo is the non adjustabe rivetthat holds the two halves together. I know you can tighten them with hammering the rivet. You can get enough leverage with these that you want to really watch carefully how you hold them. Your fingers will thank you.

Not cheap but very well made. If you need this size just buy it. If you need convincing, these often save me from having to get out a large pipe wrench or a chain wrench and are generally easier to use and much lighter. Never had Channellock pliers fail in the slip joint and expect these to perform the same. Not made out of Chineseium alloy, so even at extreme clamping force nothing deflects. The choice to purchase these was affected by being an on road heavy equipment mechanic. Been turning wrenches for more than 21 years. YMMV.
