This is exactly what I wanted to replace the over-complex one I had been using. ONE control knob. Simple, uncomplicated. It heats up reasonably quickly, the basket is large and you would have to do something pretty silly to overload it. If I had a complaint it would be the vent does build up more steam under the lid, which does drip a little. Otherwise it makes french fries and keeps my family out of the drive through.

This is a great device for deep frying. Absolutely stellar for doing chicken wings. It has good capacity and the best feature is the built-in pouring spout that makes clean up a breeze. The parts allow for efficient cleaning. You must be careful when cleaning the heating element since the large piece cannot be immersed in the sink. The snug fit of the top helps keep splatter in control.

Great deep fryer. The fryer heats up quickly and fries food efficiently. The size is adequate to cook food for large family and ease of cleaning is nice. Design makes it easy to drain oil and clean up. Definitely recommend!!

I have had my " Hamilton Beach 35042 Electric Deep Fryer, 1800 Watts, 5 Liter, Stainless Steel " fryer for 6 months, using it every couple of weeks or so. It's works very well but the power cord attachment to the fryer barely stays on. It is held magnetically, and falls off with the slightest movement, and can be tricky to connect. I haven't timed it, but it seems to take about 15 minutes or so to heat to 350. I tested the temperature with 2 thermometers, and it was within ten degrees, or less than 3%. You can put 5 or 6 medium pieces of chicken in the basket without a significant drop in oil temperature, as long as you don't crowd the basket. Be prepared for a little oil spatter on your floor and countertop if you are using it indoors, even if you use the lid.I am ashamed to admit it, but I left the fryer on overnight once. No safety Issues, but the oil was ruined. A safety alarm that comes on after an hour or two might not be a bad idea. It may sound like overkill but my fridge dings if I leave the door open too long, and refrigerators can't send you to the hospital with third degree burns, or cause flash fires.

Product paid for itself right out the box! Excellent little fryer and I fried nonstop with Super Bowl friends over that Sunday. Well worth the money!!
