This is an amazing little grill! Puts out the heat and you can put a cast iron pan on it as well. Keep in mind, it’s not a big grill, but it’s more than enough for a few people. It’s also a bit heavy for a portable BBQ but it’s well worth hauling it.

Get a charcoal starter chimney to go with this one hopper of the regular web or chimney puts a layer of charcoal on the bottom of this which is perfect for cooking it doesn't take a lot. The good old welding brush from Amazon makes cleaning the charcoal grooves out easy and the triple wire brush makes clean the top easy. You get plenty of cook time with one layer of charcoal I'm pleasantly amazed. You can feed four people if it's a meal that you can hang around and cook and eat at the same time if you want to have more people than that get two of these it's worth it. Don't use junk charcoal I used Kingsford all my life until I just happen to try some Royal Oak and I could not believe the difference.

We love this grill! It is so well built and so simple and well thought out, we cannot see a time when we will not continue to use it. Easy to clean, since there are only two pieces.I set it inside my propane grill to use it. That puts it at about the right height and I found I can even close the lid of my propane grill to make sort of an oven or smoker.It comes pre-seasoned, but I seasoned it with lard, anyway. Keeping it stored inside my propane grill keeps everything handy.At least 2 friends have ordered one based on what we are doing with ours.

First I added a charcoal basket i found that fits. I is not as large as charcoal area but holds mores and provides better air flow. I can also add charcoal around it to give longer burn time. See picture.Second was adding stainless steel cover with vent holes.Third was using cast iron pan or grill pan on it. Can get that butter fried steak to perfection outdoors where you can handle smokeFourth, would be round grill pan with press and lid. I am using a square one now to do vegetables just right.

If you want to cook food for 1 to 3 people, this grill is great. Within an hour, I had sausages, peppers, and onions, shrimp, a nice piece of salmon, all cooked before it started raining. You just heat up some charcoal in your chimney starter and dump them in when they’re nice and hot. Put the top on which is just attached to the grate and you’re ready to start cooking. Very simple. Open or close the vents by turning the top to the left or right depending on how hot you want your grill to be. The heat lasts for a good couple of hours. And I was able to cook all those things without adding any extra charcoal. it was still hot when I was done. You can see I also have a very tiny kick off grill copy f, from another company, beside it. So I used both of those in the picture along with my Dutch oven table. A great combination. I use the top of my wok to create a little bit of a heat oven and it works great. You can use any deep pot top or any Dutch oven deep pot top and it would work the same.
