KOHLERVinyl Tile-In Bead Installation Kit

Probably works for some applications but not mine.The bead top and bottom are very flexible and hard to hold shape.Also the hard middle part it very thick (~~ 1/2 inch?), thus when tiling over, tile will have to leave a gap of 1/2 inch between the tub and tile bottom.It is ugly and will collect a lot of grime.And as other reviewers said supplied tape is useless. I bought 3M double sided tape od it would have worked great if the bead was useful.Unfortunately I can not return it, so it is a waste..The good part (the reason for 2 starts vs one) is that if it is installed it will keep water out and protect walls.

This is a good quality product most suitable for an alcove application. If you're tiling above this seal, then you're going to find that the top portion is going to interfere

This is great because it made it possible for me to take my "drop in" tub and tile it in. The adhesive "tape" is just plumber's putty and doesn't hold it on there too well. It is probably a good idea to use it rather than silicone caulk though because the caulk might weather wrong or fail. I guess. Seriously you might just want to caulk and clamp it onto the tub before hand which might make it a lot easier to work with. Plenty long enough and very good construction.

The directions for installation were not very clear and there is no additional help online as to how exactly to install this. The product itself was as promised and in good condition upon receipt.

Very happy with the product.But it is a little difficult to install.I would recommend this product to friends and family.

Unfortunately this product did not work for my situation. The product is obviously intended for the modern Koehler bathtubs. From the installation instructions you can see the back edge of the tub must have a specific contour for this product to seal correctly. You also see from their instructions that they want you to put the top edge of the product behind water resistant wall board (e.g. Hardiboard). Unfortunately this won't work is many renovation situations. The product may work well for the situation it is intended but too many people are recommending I as a versatile solution for tubs that don't have a tile flange. That is simply not the case.

We had a Kohler "Archer" series tub (K-1123-0) to mount in an alcove and purchased this to facilitate tiling it. Then we found out that Kohler does not suggest the K-1123-0 is "alcoveable" and when I talked with them they said this tiling bead is not recommended for this tub due to the sharp corners of the design. Back it went.
