Zinc is essential to the normal function of many organs and systems within the body including the skeletal, immune, neurological, and endocrine systems. Zinc is a necessary mineral co-factor for hundreds of enzymatic reactions related to protein and carbohydrate metabolism, RNA/DNA synthesis, and intercellular signaling. It is also known to play a critical role in the body's defense anst oxidative processes and is especially helpful for maintenance of healthy aging.

Please read "Nutrient Power", based on the 30 000 patients researcher William Walsh worked with,
to understand why Zinc is so important for some people...I like these better than the Jamieson brand, because they have a slight coating to get them past one's mouth without disintegrating. Some people, including me, have what William Walsh calls "Pyrrole disorder":that means our biochemistries *grab all the Zinc, Arachidonic Acid, & P5P/B6* they can, manufacture useless Pyrrol molecules, & then our kidneys rid us of those...That, however, removes those 3 *required*-nutrients from us, so therefore copper *cannot* be managed properly...Zinc is also necessary for antioxidants ( 1 metallothienein molecule needs 7 zincs, iirc ),& for methylating-DNA, as well...Therefore, in pyrrol-disorder people, it is more common to see PTSD-rages,*spontaneously-triggered*,without there being any apparent-cause for the PTSD, see?Replentishing the missing nutrients mitigates this, making us more emotionally-whole.Arachidonic Acid is replentished by adding Evening Primrose Oil.( I use the Gagnon brand, taking 1 with every Zinc, now...& wish there was some way of knowing what the required amount is...is this wastefully taking 2 or 3 times as much as needed? or is it too little? bah! : )P5P/B6 is replentished by adding that vitamin ( a single tiny pill per day,Vitacost brand P5P works excellently for me )This Zinc works for me.The simplest test I know-of for pyrrol-disorder producing PTSD rages is:take the 1xP5P & 2x Evening Primrose oil every day for 3 days, then on the 4th or so day, take a Zinc Citrate 50mg, &*IF* involuntary & overwhelming-ANGER saturates one, beginning half an hour or so later,& continues for an hour or 3 more,*THEN* that is pyrrol-disorder/copper-mismanagement biochemistry.Simple, testable, objective, evidence-based medicine.IF that is one's condition,THEN providing the 3 nutrients required to mitigate the condition can prevent life-wreckage.There is *zero* likelyhood of your biochemistry being wrong exactly the way mine is,so my 50mg Zinc every 7-8h ideal almost-certainly would be wrong for most-others who are in pyrrol-disorder, too. ( read how Walsh says explicitly that we need *many times* what normal people need:the level I need *would probably be fatal* for anyone without pyrrol-disorder!Base your treatment, of YOUR condition,on ACTUAL TESTS, not on mere-believing!Either blood-metals tests, or on thatPrimrose-Oil+P5P+ZincCitrate sequence, listed above, for validity of knowing if pyrrol-disorder produced PTSD is someone's condition! Then, of course, testing gradually-creeping-up the dose of Zinc to discover what level smooths /that/ someone out, through getting their blood-metals balance, tested to come to be in-line/proper! : )& IF your biochemistry is in pyrrol-disorder, epigenetically enforcing you into PTSD for no external reason, then yes, researcher William Walsh actually explicitly told us how to treat *the underlying biochemical error*instead of merely-hiding its symptoms, as too damn many medical established "treatments" do.Also, I have read that a study on Zinc's effectiveness for preventing colds showed:Zinc Acetate is most effective ( try buying that, btw )Zinc Gluconate was next, the other chemistries were not effective, in that study. As for why I prefer this Zinc Gluconate to the super-fast-acting Zinc Citrate?Remember I said that to test pyrrol-disorder-PTSD-rage use the Zinc Citrate?( Webber makes 1 that works, also 50mg )it hits so fast that the RAGE makes one dangerous to one's relationships, makes people more likely to call the cops on one, preemptively. For *testing* pyrrol-disorder, it is definitive, but for *mitigating* the neurochemistry-muckup,it is not ideal. This is milder-in-effect, see?Wishing you all well,& hoping you experience owning your lives as fully as you can,no matter what "rigged hand" you got dealt! The less neuro-dysfunction ruling our world's lives, the better, right?Salut, Namaste, & Kaizen!( :

Great for strengthening hair and nails.
I use this often and it really helps with the growth of hair and nails and it also helps with skin. My homeopathic suggested it. I am glad she did. I have very brittle nails and my hair was so weak before. I have been taking this for a few years now and it has strengthened my hair.

A great value for zinc
This brand is an amazing value because no one needs 50mg of zinc per day. Just check credible sites for dosage like the National Institutes for Health in the U.S. The dosage ranges for adults from about 13 - 8mg per day, depending on the site, whether you're a man or a woman and a few other factors. What we do with this brand is cut the pill in quarters with a razor blade. The pill holds up fine. And each of us takes 1/4 pill per day, which is 12.5mg per day. This should be more than enough for any adult, particularly considering we all get some zinc in our diets already. That means this 250-pill bottle yields 1,000 serving. Like I said -- a great value!
