It is everything you hopped for.
It has everything that a good book needs. It has love, adventure, battles, friendship, personal growth and a bit of spiciness. It made me laugh and cry.

brilliant story, suffers from the writing
Story is brilliant, characters are pretty cool. Great mix of action, romance and smut. Shame the writing is tricky to get on with, I think it would really benefit from being in first person from different POVs. It’s written a bit like that for huge chunks then randomly switches and it can be really off putting.

Needless to say my plans for the day ended up reading this whole book over a few days. The characters were vivid and clear and the plot just got better and better. Can't wait for the next book.

I loved every page of this book!
You know a story is special when you’ve read more than 600 pages and still don’t want the story to end! That’s the feeling that I had when reading this story ‘The war God’s favorite’. The writer Jenny Fox is a completely new writer for me. I had never heard of her before, but another reader recommended this fantasy story in a readers’ group and when I read that this story reminded her of ‘The golden dynasty’ of Kristen Ashley, I was immediately intrigued because I love that story too! So I decided to read this story and OMG, I’m so glad I did because I loved every page!! I will definitely read more books by this author. This fantasy story is about a country ruled by an emperor and his dragon. Like the emperor, his children are born with dragon’s blood, which make them stronger and heal them faster. The emperor has many concubines so he has many children, but the emperor only has six sons. And just like their father, each son has his own dragon, they share a deep bond with this dangerous animal. Of course, only one of the sons can succeed their father as emperor, which makes life in the palace very dangerous as some mothers (concubines) go to great lengths to ensure their son are chosen for that role. This story is about the third prince, Kairen and his black dragon Krai. He’s the most feared of all the brothers, a dangerous warrior. Unlike his brothers he has no concubines nor real interest in having one. But that all changes the day he and his dragon see 17 year old slave Cassandra in the arena. Cassandra knows that she will die in the arena that day, along with the other slaves brought there, and she’s at peace with that, she’s ready to end her terrible life as a slave. But to her great surprise (and that of everyone present) that doesn’t happen, a black dragon saves her and she’s now the property of Kairen, the third prince. That’s the beginning of a new and dangerous adventure for Cassandra, Kairen and his dragon Krai. Their lives and the lives of many others will never be the same from that day on.I don’t want to tell too much about the story because I think it’s more fun to discover it for yourself. I will tell you that it contains royal intrigues, secrets and fighting but it’s also a story about courage, friendship, family and love. I must warn you, though: the dragons in this story have a tendency to eat people they don’t like. You have been warned! There were a few twists in the story that I didn’t expect. Although it was a long story, it wasn’t boring, on the contrary! I could hardly stop reading. There were some very emotional scenes in the story and some steamy sex scenes too. (The story ends with a HEA, if you wonder about that and no, there’s no cheating in it. The third prince has only eyes for Cassandra.)I loved the main characters, both Cassandra and Kairen were great in their own way. Although the story was mostly told from Cassandra’s POV, we also got to know Kairen’s thoughts. Despite the fact that Cassandra had a horrible life as a slave, she retained her kind heart and nature. She was young but she was very mature for her age. She had a strong mind, was very intelligent, observant and she was a hard worker. She knew a lot about medical plants and medicines and had a deep connection with nature. Kairen was a warrior, he had no problem killing people for no reason but he was very protective of those he loved. He was also a stubborn, possessive, intelligent, grumpy and silent man. I liled that he respected Cassandra’s opinions and different views on life.Kairen’s dragon Krai was such a special character. Just like Kairen, he was in love with Cassandra, he acted like a lovesick puppy around her (very cute!) but he was also a very protective and dangerous bodyguard. I really loved the interaction between him and Cassandra and Kairen. Both Kairen and his dragon wanted Cassandra’s attention all the time. That resulted in some funny scenes. The secondary characters were also very interesting. There was Kairen’s mother Kareen, a concubine she was very intelligent and protective of her children and Kairen’s sister Shareen, unlike the other princesses, she had a very strong character. She was intelligent, fought like a warrior and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind to her brothers and her father, the emperor. Cassandra’s younger sister Missandra was also an interesting character, she was sneaky and more energetic then her older sister. It was beautiful to see the love between them, even though they grew up apart in different circumstances.I also really liked some of the other characters and hated some (because they did really mean things) but the one I had mixed feelings about was the emperor. He wasn’t a bad man, he was kind to Cassandra and I really believe that he loved his concubine Kareen. He made some good decisions in the end but I also think it was partly his fault that some things went so wrong. He made some bad decisions with his love life and family. At the end, we got a few epilogues, so we could see how everyone was doing in the future and I really loved that!!‘The war god’s favorite’ is a wonderful fantasy story!

Mega!
Das Geschichte fing langsam an und wurde von Kapitel zu Kapitel immer besser. Sehr gut geschrieben. Vor allem waren auch unvorhersehbare Teile dabei :) Freue mich auf Band 2

An amazing story
I thought this novel was well written. Beautiful love story mixed with adventure. I felt like I was there and feeling their emotions. The main characters were well put together. At each pov, you could tell they were different characters and personalities.Sometimes, when authors write each character, their persona and language are the same, such as the ML is hard and rough, and the FL is light and fluff, but some how the ML sounds/reads like its the FL.It was a Great read! Definitely recommend it, great storyline, strong characters and unpredictable. Love it.!

The War Gods Favorite
What a amazingly brilliant read. The complexity of the characters, the trials and tribulations. The termoil and the conflict. I have never cried so much while reading a book before. To be able to put you in the world with the characters you're reading about. To be able to have your readers feel what the characters do is a gift that this writer has mastered. Absolutely adding her to my top 5 authors.
