Most Reliable Flashlight Ever
I've been using incandescent mini maglites for decades. I've probably purchased 20 of them and store them in my flight bag, in my aircrafts for night flight, in my hiking, skiing, backpacking, kayaking backpacks, etc. They fit perfectly in my hand or can be held in your mouth hands free, but aren't so small that you are more likely to lose them like AAA variety. They are very light weight. They can be operated even with bulky gloves on. There are zero integrated circuits to ever fail and only a couple of o-rings that are easily replaceable but I've never needed to do it. I've never crushed one or had it break from being dropped. I've never had one fail due to moisture. The primary failure mode is using normal alkaline batteries which leak and swell and then corrode the inside. The second mode, which has only happened half a dozen times or so is bulb failure and certainly changing the bulb worked, but is a bit fiddly and you could lose the bulb. The third mode has only happened maybe once or twice to me was battery exhaustion but was addressed with spare batteries or backup flashlights. So my guidance for the most reliable flashlight I've ever found are twofold:Use lithium AAs as they have a shelf life of at least a decade, have never leaked and corroded my equipment, and are lighter than normal Alkalines. I even use 9 or 12 of them with special D adapters inside a 3 or 4 D cell maglite for cars and trucks and such where space and weight are less of a concern.Use a roughly 2" wide piece of painters tape or some such to go once around the barrel to keep the flashlight from turning on inside a pack or pocket and draining (this is easily removed when it's time to use it, can be stored on the handle or elsewhere and placed back when done or replaced after a trip). In ultra critical situations like night flight, carry extra batteries and/or duplicate flashlights.I have designed elastic loops on my flight kneeboard to hold the flashlight in a known convenient place and the smooth tubular design makes it easy to slide the flashlight into the loop. I've also used them with headbands which work similarly for hands free operation, but I seldom do that since I prefer to turn them on and off frequently or maneuver the flashlight to places my head is not. There are better headlamp solutions.

Good general purpose light.
It's not bright by today's standards, but the light it does put out is easier on the eyes and makes object look more natural than LEDs. I recommend nimh over alkaline because a leak will destroy this light.

Best flashlight non led
I specifically want a non led flashlight when using it for inspection. LED washes out color and this type of light does not. I hope they keep making them.

My Favorite Exam Light
Not the best for what a flashlight does, but the best I've found for use as a patient exam light, a so called pen light, on steroids. Not too bright for checking pupillary response or looking in the oropharynx, with reasonable color rendition. If I need brighter, I got brighter. if I need closer, otoscope/ophthalmoscope. But for general look and see, it lives in my left rear pocket.

Fabulous for ghost hunting!!!
I bought this for ghost hunting because you can you use a maglight specifically to commune with spirits by turning the light between on and off. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to get it perfectly in between the on and off section. But basically you just turn it on and you slowly turn it off until the light starts to flicker and then you leave it alone and the light will turn off by itself. You can then begin asking questions in a haunted location for spirits to turn on/off the maglight. I've gotten crazy results from this practice with this tool. Additionally, it's a flashlight... It obviously helps navigate the spooky dark locations šAnd because of it's compact size, it's amazing to pack, store, and travel with!!!Highly recommend for ghost hunting and everyday use!!! 100% worth the price!!!

Lots of money is needed to make this worth having
This cost me $12.95. I bought this flashlight because I wanted the sheath. After buying it I got an LED upgrade from Litt Industries for $13.99, and a push button tail cap from Litt Industries for $11.99 (both from eBay). With so much money put into making this flashlight work well enough to use, it was frustrating to experience such poor reliability and such inconsistency. It often wouldn't switch on, and then, later, after doing nothing differently, it would work for a while and then turn off on its own. I eventually found out that it was so unreliable when I realized that the included batteries suck. I found acid leaking out and am pretty sure that they were mostly dead when they arrived. So batteries are yet another thing you'll need to pay for to get good performance out of this light. If you want a flashlight that's bright, affordable, fairly small, and available on Amazon, get this awesome pair of GearLight Tac LEDs.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VNCWZBF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Currently a pack of 2 of them only costs $12.99. They're great and don't require any of the effort that i put into making this maglite worthwhile (I cannot emphasize enough how much less expensive these are - batteries are literally the only thing you'll need for them). If you do go with the Mini Maglite, and you do go through the trouble of upgrading it like I did, something useful I can tell you is that the sheath is worth it. I wasn't sure if having the sheath would mean that I couldn't use the tail cap push button, but I tried it and you shouldn't need to worry about the weight of the light switching it on without you realizing it.I'm not rating it lower because the final product is pretty badass, but be aware of how much of a pain it will be to get the most out of this flashlight.

Doesn't feel as solid as the OG mini mag lite
Bought this one after my old original mini Maglite had one too many battery leaks inside and corroded out the guts. It put in its time admirably, it will be missed. This one hits the mark on price and I wont need to bash an intruder with it so the aluminum build quality is good enough for the job I have it for. Word of note it will not fit the aftermarket Nite Ize led bulb I had in the old one. Lets just say i voided the warranty using a small round file and it fits again. Good EDC on a belt. Would recommend a brighter led bulb for some extra brightness if that's your jam.
