Paper Collage Chinese Style

This is the best and most exciting book I have ever read about collage. I cannot recommend it highly enough and I am an art book junkie. I have book about collage by Gerald Brommer and Anita Leland to name two of my favorites. But they are western artists. This book is eastern and it is breathtaking. So painterly and so profound and simple.The only thing I hope changes in the second edition is the translation. The translator, Kitty Lau, is more than competent in English as a second language, but nearly every sentence has some non standard form that reminds me that this book is translated. How hard would it be to have a final edit from a native speaker?That being said, the rest is wonderful.

I was looking for a resource guide for projects to do at workshops that required very little supplies. This filled the bill. I also was looking for a book that provided a different look for Collage , more of a standard representation of an actual object. More like a painted picture. The projects were described in detail with good illustrations.

This book has a lot of good info on creating collages. There are many illustrations that are very good examples of the techniques mentioned in the book. HOWEVER- the book has not been proofread and it is filled with mistakes. I have to keep rereading sentences to understand what is being said. I have never seen anything like this.The agreement of subjects and verbs is completely disregarded. It is obvious that it is written by someone for whom English is a second language. Here is one example: " ... and yet do not overcautiously interprets every steps as the absolute authority." (p.13) The book is filled with this. The book is edited by the Editorial Committee of Cultural China series and the text really lacks clear meaning, I think the book should have a disclaimer

This book is full of beautiful torn paper collages and easy step by step pictorial instructions......Uses easily obtainable paper.....Must have for collage artist from beginner to advanced......mraz

I love all Asian artwork. I found this artist by chance and am I glad. The book is beautiful and is very instructive.

Beautiful, inspirational pictures. Lovely beginner exercises. Helpful, clear directions. Would be happy to purchase an intermediate version.
