Not much else to say. The book end is sweet, simple, and does its job. The only issue is that instead of a pair of book ends I only got one book end and the item is "ineligible for return".

They work fine, but there are a few issues with the enamel coating (see pictures: one full chip, several blemishes, and one spot where the enamel is cracked and will turn into another full chip if rubbed around). For the price, I wasn't expecting really high quality, but I was a bit disappointed by these chips. It isn't worth returning as I can just touch them up myself with some paint. If you are not worried about a few blemishes (possibly due to shipping; see Cons), these should do the job. 4 stars rather than fewer since the price is relatively low.--- Pros:- The non-slip bottom is a nice touch (see picture).- Relatively cheap.- Does the job.- It seems some people were having issues with receiving only one unit rather than a pair. I received an actual pair, so I am not sure what happened with those orders.--- Cons:- Chips and blemishes in the enamel coating.- A bit more bendable than I was expecting (should be able to hold up most books, but definitely bendable by hand (at least the portion that goes under the books... I didn't want to test the vertical portion)).- (note): the bookends were put inside a bag within another bag for shipping with a band keeping the pair together... so there isn't much protection for them while being shipped. This could easily be the reason for the chips and blemishes in mine (except for one that is clearly a burr/enamel buildup from manufacturing).

I ordered "1 pair" and only got 1 piece.

I thought that for the price that these were adequate for the job.I guess the age old adage that you get what you pay for holds true. The book ends were what were advertised but I guess at this price they don't take the time for the niceties and you can expect to have to take some extra time to make them right. I had purchased a pair of bookends with the shelves that I bought and after setting everything up I realized I needed another set. Amazon to the rescue! I purchased a set off of amazon for about the same price as these. When they arrived they were wrapped with a cardboard band and the bookends were perfect. These arrived wrapped in packing tape which, upon pulling the tape off left it's adhesive all over the bookends. So it took me an extra 20 minutes to go and find some solvent and rub them clean. Not a big deal but unnecessary.You can believe that the next time I pick up a pair of these I will be looking at those details before hitting the order button!David

I'm not sure how these bent pieces of metal are supposed to hold anything up... The paint is flaking off too... These are not bookends, they are something else...

I really like these bookends. My heavy textbook kept toppling over on my desk, so I needed to invest in something strong since my books average at about 2,000 pages. These little guys work great. I prefer a simplistic look, and these are a nice, deep black without looking cheap. Not sure if this is the correct term, but each stand also has some soft fuzz on the bottom to keep it from scratching the surface, which was a nice touch.

The reason I gave these 3 stars is because both pieces had chips that exposed the bare metal. Aside from that they are sturdy and have a nice pad under the base to prevent slipping and protect furniture. The chips are hidden so I am not returning. I will add that they were actually packaged very well by Amazon and protected during shipment.

They are very practical and would work great, but they were bent when they arrived. I'm not sure why but they could not be returned. They still work okay inside a cabinet.
