great addition to front of my desktop!
Used this to add some USB ports to my desktop computer. Easy to install, and visually appealing as it fit in with the black theme of my desktop. Also a port in the back allows installation of 3.5 drive to add to computer. Definitely recommend.

Very convenient, but ...
The two USB connectors inside the plastic in the front are each too loose. When you push a USB device into the front, that pushes the connector back a fraction of an inch, so you get poor contact and unreliable behavior.Once I understood that, I put a tiny cable tie diagonally securing the connector as far forward as it will go.That seems to have solved the problem. It was just what I could think of quickly with materials at hand (not the way I'd suggest fixing the problem). The connector is surrounded enough that some tiny wedge would likely be the easiest and best solution. But I didn't have anything handy to cut a tiny wedge from.Glue would also be simple, but then you need to wait for it to harden.I'm also using its second purpose: mounting a 3.5 in drive in a 5.25 bay. No problems with that. But it does have soft plastic screw holes to connect to the main case, so removing and reinstalling it more than a few times would strip those screw holes.

Great bay filler
I used this to fill a bay after I took out an optical drive. It did the job very well. The front screw holes didn't quite line up, but it wasn't hard to secure it with the rear ones.Definitely good for the price.

Easy to install in my Old 2008 home built Tower Computer Case
This front panel tray with 2 USB 3.0 ports and a 3.5” cut out fit just right into my computer case that I built back around 2008. My old computer still works like a charm, but it did not have any USB 3.0 ports. I recently started using a USB HDD and thumb drive that supported USB 3.0 so I bought a PCIe expansion board and this front panel to update my PC.The panel is made of plastic, but seems durable. In my old PC, I also had a 3.5” card reader. I put the card reader into this front panel and it fit perfectly. The cable and 20 pin connector is sufficiently long to reach from the front of my tower case to the back where my USB 3.0 PCIe card is installed. The 20 pin plug fit snugly into the port on the back of the USB card that is used for the front header of other USB 3.0 connectors.Note: The 20 pin description is really 19 pins, both on the card and on the connector. On the card, there is one pin missing and on the plug there is one pin planked out. This is for correct orientation, plus the card has a slot and the plug has a raised edge on it so you can only put the plug in, in one direction.I also suggest, if you are using an expansion card, plug the front panel connector it into the card before plugging the card into the PCIe slot as that will make it easier to insert the plug. On my 1st try, I inserted the plug while the card was in the PCIe slot and ended up bending a pin (which I fixed later). Also, try to insert the plug from one side to the other instead of straight in so you can feel the pins going in in order to prevent bending pins.In any case, it was easy DIY project that updated my computer.FYI my PC is built on a 2008 ASUS LX-2 Series motherboard with an Intel Quad 4 Processor, & 4GB RAM. I also installed a VisionTek ATI HD 5450 graphics board into a PCIe X16 slot. The USB 3.0 card is in a PCIe X1 slot. I am currently running the latest build of Windows 10 64bit. All the device drivers are native Microsoft Windows 10 Drivers.

Mounting is not great, but for the price it can be a good drive bay filler
If you are missing the front panels for drive bays on your computer, this adapter can plug them up, effectively allowing you to properly route the air flow in your computer. It also functions as a drive adapter, I guess. Newer cases often don't even bother with 5.25" bays, but it's very useful for older cases where you may have misplaced the parts. If you care to, you can even paint the front a similar color to your case, if you case isn't black. My main gripe is that the screws holes for mounting it aren't always placed where you'd expect, and they are soft plastic. That means that these adapters require the screw to tap the hole's threads, and each successive removal and reuse of it will wear down the mounting holes more. You can improve longevity of the screw holes by using a trick where you turn the screw in reverse until you feel the screw's thread fall into the hole's thread, then screw it in. Otherwise, you will cross-thread the plastic every time, eventually destroying the threads in the holes completely.

Cumple

Good bay sled
This is for the plain plastic 5.25" bay sled. I purchased this one from Vantec because it's a little different than "the other one" that is so common. This one has clips/brackets on the outside edges that will accommodate male USB connectors with some cutouts to hold the cable - and they sell a similar unit with that already installed. My purpose was to add a 3.5" card reader to this bay and then custom mod a USB type-C port (from the motherboard header) into one side. It wasn't easy or quick but I did an ok job of it and it works. Choosing which variety of type-C cable to use can make this easier or harder, but it's not simple either way because this sled was intended for normal type-A connectors. The drawbacks of this sled are that it's just a hair oversized for easy insertion into the case drive bays, and the plastic is decent but not too hard to crack - while removing the front panel for easier access with tools, two of the prongs cracked but it reassembled just fine, surprisingly. The quick release bays in my case work with this sled but it's fiddly to insert and difficult to remove, requiring manual manipulation of the grabber things because they will latch on to the extra screw access holes on the side of the sled. All in all a good item, can't complain, and it has different features.

It works and fit well. It did....for 3 months.
Easy to install in my Cooler Master case. The USB cable is long enough and the tray took the new SSD. You could actually get dual SSDs in the tray. No fuss at all.The USB 3 is quick and steady.OOPS! after 3 months the left side connector is iffy so I am now back to a hub plugged into a back port. I guess you get what you pay for?
