I received 1/4" chicago screws and the diameter of the shaft or barrel is 0.151".

Q: Would these work to fasten a belt buckle?

That's what I purchased them for and was a perfect match.

Q: Will this work on a mailbox door hinge?

Generally I don't think these would be the best solution for a mailbox door hinge, as hinges are usually thin metal. The chicago screws I bought are designed to clamp up 1/4 inch of material and no less. If the thickness if the hinge and mailbox material are slightly thicker than 1/4" total these might work, but a standard machine screw, lock or star washer, and a nut might be a better option. I use these screws to connect leather where the the overall thickness of the leather is slightly greater than 1/4 inch and the chicago screw can compress the leather slightly.
