Love this! Worth the wait.
I've been wanting an embroidery stand for years, have researched dozens, but always held off getting one, mostly because the good ones are pricey. After a break from embroidery for awhile, I recently started a new project, and decided I just couldn't anymore with the awkward holding of hoops or frames. So I did some new research and decided to try this stand. The short conclusion: I am so very glad I got this stand. I have nothing but positive things to say about it. It's sturdy, works great, I've seen no down side to it at all, and I highly recommend it.More info if you're interested:It's very sturdy and solid. There's nothing that seems 'cheap' about this stand - nice smooth wood, well made. Yet it's not heavy, very easy to pick up and move around. It doesn't come with instructions but is easy to put together - it's pretty self-explanatory. It adjusts in so many different ways that it would be impossible not to find a comfortable configuration for stitching, whether using it as a sit-on stand on a chair or couch, or as a table-top stand.I had watched a couple of YouTube review videos on this stand, and unfortunately they were pretty misleading and almost talked me out of getting it. In case anyone reading these reviews also does that, I want to debunk these issues. One indicated that, when using as a table stand, it would slide around on the table. I was going to buy some little rubber feet to stick on the bottom, and also considered making a weight of some kind to lay on the base, but now that I've used it, neither is necessary. It doesn't move around while I'm stitching. When you're adjusting it, and so pushing or pulling on the different 'arms,' yes it might slide a bit. Anything will slide on a smooth table if you're actively pushing or pulling on it. It's really a non-issue. It doesn't move around while I'm stitching.Another review video showed the hoop being floppy and not held tightly. I have also not had that experience. I have no issue with the hoop moving around, it's very firmly held and not wobbly at all. Yes, if you grab the hoop and start yanking on it (like in the video) you can move it, but you shouldn't need to do that for stitching. However, there are two ways you can put the hoop in - basically one that's 'horizontal' and one that's 'vertical,' and if you find one way less secure, you can try the other. See the attached pictures. I've tried both, and both work well for me. And I'm using a relatively thin hoop (a little over 1/4" wide) and it still holds it just fine in either position.I also tested using it sitting on the couch, and found that very comfortable, too, no issues with that. I can lean back on the couch comfortably and bring the hoop right up close.Overall, I love this stand, I can't see a downside to it, and I highly recommend it.

Wow - Makes a Difference!
I had seen on you tube how easy it was for them to embroider with both hands and i wondered how lol... until i realized they were using a stand of some sort!!!So after researching for a bit I found this one and even though it is a bit expensive i decided to give it a try. I am not sorry that i did - It has made all the difference in the world and i am now able to do the stitches which requires both hands very easily!!The stand is made of real wood, very sturdy if you are sitting on it (i haven't tried using it on a table) and is very easy to position. The knobs are not hard and you do not have to tighten them very hard either. The stand can also be placed into any position just by loosening the knobs and I love that the stand "flattens" to a point where it is easy to put away when not in use.The top screw does hold onto the hoop very nicely - i use round hoops but I don't see why square hoops would be a problem. Just make sure that you put the hoop on with the tightening screws (on the hoop) to either the left or right side - that part will not fit into the opening.I will say this ... there are three plastic round pieces that i thought at first were packing material - they are not! When you are putting it together - BEFORE you put the black knobs on - put the round plastic piece on first - this helps to stop any scratching or indentation on the stand when you are tightening the knobs.

Ups my embroidery game
I'm new to hand embroidery, but was quickly developing sore wrists and tight shoulders from trying to do complicated stitches without being able to have one hand on either side of my project. I mostly embroidery in bed with pillows stacked behind me so I wasn't sure this would work, but it really is perfect. I do have to put a pillow behind my knees and then tip the platform that is held down by my thighs by putting it on the edge of the pillow - but with a little adjusting I can get it in a perfect spot and don't need to continue fiddling with it. When I do want to change the angle or the rotate my project, it's super quick to adjust the arm or remove the frame to rotate and screw it back in. I'm adding this to my embroidery "must-haves".

Quality not up to snuff
This is a good stand if you like both table and seated stands and want to be able to switch between those styles easily, but for $60 I thought it was rather poor quality. I liked the flexibility offered with the jointed neck, but the wood itself was unfinished for the price. There were quite a few rough patches and the topmost piece had a large gouge in the wood where it attached to the clamp. Not a terrible item if you really want a multifunctional stand and don't mind doing some sanding to finish it up, but I didn't like it enough to go to that effort.

Fabulous
I LOVE this cross stitch stand. It is just what I wanted. Easy to use and very sturdy. I bought it to take on vacation because it collapses but I just may use it all the time.
