Osprey Centauri Laptop Backpack

So I have an Osprey Farpoint 40 and I love that backpack for weekend getaways, and the fact that it can be zipped up into a “suitcase”. I figured Osprey makes decent stuff so why not get another. I really only had two requirements: hold my laptop (14”) and accessories, and hold my lunch. I mean thats what I take to work daily so not sure why thats hard to ask. I have an ergo mouse and between that and the power supply your accessory pockets are used up. I had to email Osprey about dimensions and they put the depth to be 6”. My lunch bag is 6.5” fully extended, which doesn’t really happen too often. Well they were right-exactly 6” if not a hair less. Needless to say, my lunch bag maximized the bottom and pressed up against the laptop making it unnecessarily wide and stretched only at the bottom.I would say this is a good bag if you only need to carry your laptop, mouse, power supply, sunglasses, some paperwork and possibly a light jacket or sweater. The shoulder straps are excellent but can’t speak to the breathing of the back area as this lasted only 8hrs before it was reboxed. Also I had no interest mixing my pens and sunglasses (since it inly has one pocket) and since this failed the lunch bag test, back this went.Ended up with the Quasar which has not only an additional pocket, but the pocket is full length to the bag bottom. It has three pockets for pens etc, and the inner dimensions of the main bag fit my lunch bag with some room to breath. Granted, the Centauri is much better for larger items with a laptop than other backpack makers, but the Quasar really nailed it.I would give it 3.5 stars but I don’t thinks its quite a 4 so I gave it 3.

Lovely color, nice soft straps, big pockets, solid zipper. Really like it.

The bag I received is not the same version as shown in the pictures here. The photos at the time of my order have 2 horizontal seams that are only a few inches wide on each side of the pack, creating a very sleek and minimal look. The actual bag has a large and deep seam that arcs across the entire front.I asked Osprey support about this and they confirmed that the latest model has the ugly curved seam. If I knew this is what I would get I'd probably have gone for a different option.

This backpack has a good main compartment for a sweater, laptop and food. The straps will also keep it tight when roadbiking or when hiking. Still I can't help thinking $60 for a backpack with only two compartments is a little overpriced. When biking I put my wallet, phone, and keys in the small top compartment, but it means I don't have any choice but to dig through the main compartment for a snack which is a bit annoying. Also, like almost all other reviews complain, the bottle holders are basically useless and I am left putting my water in the main compartment as well.Overall, I say this bag is a perfect size but could use a side pouch for a quick snack and those bottle holders could be removed or made more function.

I use this backpack for my daily college life. Honestly, I put my laptop, several thick textbooks, and accessories in it, and it fits pretty well even with extra space. I am surprised that my back doesn't feel uncomfortable after carrying all the heavy things for a week. The support of this backpack is really well designed.

Was looking for a work bag where I can just throw stuff in quickly and go. Overall build quality is great, fits my MBP, TKL mech, a book, sweater, and a few other items. Laptop pocket is padded on both sides. Tablet pocket fits my TKL. Osprey quality straps makes wearing the bag easier on my back than my other bag with the same items. Could use another mid size zip pocket on the outer..

I have tried other bags/backpacks for my professional work and related travel, and until I found this, I have been not too satisfied.Most bag manufacturers build a bag, but the handle and strap systems are a last thought. Many photographers bags are like this. So uncomfortable and not ergonomic.Also, many work bags don't have an outside slot or two for a water bottle. It's so easy to put a non-obtrusive mesh pocket on the side, but they don't.REI and others don't know about this bag, for some reason, so I had to order it on Amazon and direct from Osprey.Buy this bag.

Fits my back perfectly. I am familiar with Osprey brand and this does not disappoint. Love the color choices and comfortable fit. I was specifically looking for less pockets and this is great for simplicity. The two water bottle holders are wonderful though I do wish there were straps to tighten to address sizes

Very spacious bag for it’s proclaimed capacity of 22L. Could use an additional compartment for better storage options. The fabric feels durable, it has ripstop stiching and seems to be weather resistant. Very comfortable on the back, I’m 1.81 and this feels like the right size for a guy like me. Would recommend.

Got this bag as a substitute for my work as an old one, Adidas, simply fell apart after 2y of everyday use.This bag looks very sturdy and well made; nice zippers, good material, all the stitching hidden inside and not even a sign of fraying. It's a bit heavier than my old one, but I couldn't believe how comfortably it fits on my back. It evenly balances the load and simply forces you to keep your back straight.15 inch laptop fits perfectly inside the padded pocket.Cons: Chest and other straps narrower than I'd like. Although it shouldn't affect the strength of it.And I should have gotten black, as I'm not so keen on the colour scheme - outside is fancy metal gray, but backing and inside are camo green 😒.Anyway 5 stars out of 5.

Ich nutze den Rucksack fast täglich. Zum Pendeln ins Büro, aber auch für kurze Ausflüge am Wochenende. Die Größe ist super und das Tragegefühl angenehm. Schön finde ich auch die kleinen Extrafächer im Innenteil. So kann man gut aufräumen und das zu einem echt günstigen Preis.
