Q: Is it truly waterproof? Many I've bought in the past eventually faded and started leaking.

It was water proof! I went to Ireland with it but I've only had in light rain but strong winds and it held up great ! And it kept me warm without being super hot like I'm wearing a garbage bag. I hope that helps.

It is very light. It doesn’t feel heavy at all, even in heavy rain.

Q: Is this a men's jacket?

it is considered a men's jacket with a square shape. Fits well I ordered larger because I wanted to wear a sweater underneath. Long torso and sleeves just to give you a heads up !

Q: Does jacket have writing on it?

Yes, on the left chest. It is embroidered with the same color as the fabric. If you zoom in on the stock photo you can just see it.
