Q: Does anybody have any experience with battery life on this in various modes? Nothing on manufacturers website.

I bought this for myself and loved it so much I also got one for my husband. The battery life is 1:30 ~ 100 hours run time. We are really pleased with ours!

Q: This light is double the cost of many others I see. What's the main difference? Is it worth it?

I have a catrike and have one on each side, it has 6 settings... half are reg light for still good use they last me for about 2-3 weeks of using. When you put on the higher intense red they will blind you - best for good protection, even thouhgt I paid about 32 buckks for each one, they are double that in the bikes stores around me in Clearwater, FL. Well worth spending the few extra dollars. My friend has one for about 18 bucks and he said you should have spent the extra money.

Q: How good is side visibility for the Cygolight Hotrods in an urban setting?

These lights are most visible from directly behind or a 45 degree angle. You can see them a block away. At a 180 degree (side) angle you can still see them because they are so bright but not as bright as the rear view. There are other lights intended to give a 270 degree view if that's the goal.
