Guitar Bass String Muter Noise Reducer Dampener Universal Guitar Fretboard Muting Wraps Fit for 6-String Guitar, 4-string bass

Seemed like a very low tech gadget, hadn't expected any problems. Used it on a 4-string base, seems to very heavily dampen the outer strings, had little effect on the inner strings. Tried adjusting the tightness but it didn't help.

Looks cute but it doesn't do the best job of muting.

Ok, I was using the standard "hairband" approach to act as string muter, but I got sick of having to pry that thing off the headstock everytime I wanted to change strings on my SG or Les Paul guitars. So, I bought this thing.....oops. First of all, it's too small in general, and to get it to fit required wrenching on it pretty tight, which not only mutes the strings, but makes them almost sharp in tuning - weird effect. I tried ripping off the felt part because it seemed to thick, and that made it a "band" of sorts, which did work better than with the felt on it, so I guess if I do need really heavy muting, I'll use it in modded "band" mode. LOL! I should've bought the "Gruv Gear FretWraps String Muter" I see all the Pro's using, but I thought I'd cheap out and try this one. Mistake!
