A good kids tool.
I thought I better put a quick review up here because I think these little lamps are getting a bit of a bad rap with only two reviews. My kids played with them at a local nature center in the play camping area. They have had them there for around 4 months now and with the traffic that comes through there I know they have gotten a lot of hard use from kids toddler though middle school. Yes banging them around dropping them dragging them, most likely stepping on them, fighting over them etc. They seem to be holding up pretty well which was a good sign to me.First off they are adorable the colorful selections excite the kids. They are a great sized lamp for kids heads. They are not sticking out like some huge adult lamps. I think the actual lamp is the perfect size for kids. The adjustable strap works well and is made of a fabric type material that slips less than a shiny strap would when on their little heads.I am sorry I cannot speak on the auto off feature, or the battery life since I do not have experience with those features since we only played at the center for an hour and a half, but I must say the head lamps were on my kids heads the whole time so I know my kids LOVED them. My guess is that the batteries would last longer than a previous poster stated, since they are only powering two little LED bulbs, but like I said I don't own one yet, just played hard with them for a couple hours. They kick off a good amount of light for two little LED bulbs. I was impressed by this.I went ahead and ordered two of them for my kids birthday's coming up at the end of the month. They will be 5 and 7 and I am sure they will use them when we camp this summer, during imaginary play at home where they can explore the dark areas of the basment, and my daughter who is an avid reader will probably enjoy using it to read her books on car trips when it is dark outside. For the price, I found these to be a good deal. I got them for, $12 for the blue and red, and $13 for the purple so I also go them free shipping on Amazon.I would say they are more sturdy than a "toy" but yet made for kids in size and colors.I looked into other head lamps and found most of them for adults, average prize being around $20. For a kid that is 5 or 7 these would be far to large and not nearly as fun. So I decided to go with the ones I already knew passed their play test and they were a good price compaired to others. I also considered buying them little hand lanterns, and/or normal LED flashlights. Yet when making flashlights and lanterns for kids, many companies tend to get into the more "toy" side of products instead of actual working tools. If they do make a kid design for an actual good lantern or flashlight they end up being too high in cost. These seem to have the best of both worlds. Good durability, a fun kid friendly look, and an actual working camping "tool" disigned for kids instead of a "toy."Yet a good price that if it doesn't last forever you don't feel like you just lost an expensive investment.

Older model with different strap!
Amazon sent us an older model and packaging. The pink and white light came with a different strap than from pictured. I confirmed this with the manufacturer.

My boys love these head lamps
They’re cute and also great quality. My boys using them for camping and love them.

A little expensive for the quality
I don’t like that the battery needs tools to replace. The strap feels comfy-ish. I bought it for my daughter for a camping trip. It is nice to have hands free lighting. But she still uses lamps to go with this... so...

A bummer since Princeton Tec is typically an excellent brand and a little surprised by this issue
Ordered for my son and he really likes it but unfortunately the screw for the battery door is either slightly bent or cross threaded when received. Wasn't sure what the issue was at first because it was a challenge to get the battery door open and closed. Now the screw just doesn't hold the battery door shut at all so must be a screw threading issue. I'll have to find a replacement so that we can get it to work properly. My daughter has the same one and loves it and we did not have any problems. A bummer since Princeton Tec is typically an excellent brand and a little surprised by this issue.

Battery cover broke; bad screw design
Nice and bright, that part works. But the battery cover broke. Two years and 4 months. Section under the screw broke. Screw?! Very bad design requiring a tiny Philips screwdriver in the woods to replace batteries. Pretty lame. Cheap. I've had my screwless cover main-brand-name headlamp for like 10 years.

Impossible to get the battery door open!
The screw for the battery compartment was in so tightly that I stripped it trying to open it on the first try. I can’t imagine having to open this every time you have to change the batteries. You’d think it would survive more than one try. Hoping to return this item, but we’ll see.

I ordered this twice and got another headlamp for adults both times.
I was finally able to get the 30 watt headlamp at a local store. When I ordered it through Amazon twice I got a 300 wat adult headlamp. Childrens eyes can be damaged by looking at headlamps. 30 watts is what young children should have. I got it for a 2-year old. The child's lamp has different colors which is fun at night or in a closet plus can be worn without hurting her 4 year old brother's eyes while they play. The watch I finally found was great. The maker or the supplier may need a different number or system to get the right headlamp to the purchaser.

Inferior quality
This is not a durable head lamp. It can’t sustain a drop onto the floor. Manufacturer can argue all it wants. However, it’s designed for children AND camping. AND THEY HAVE FAILED.The dollar store actually sells more rugged headlamps.SKIP THIS PRODUCT AND PRINCETON TECH PRODUCTS ALL TOGETHER.

Battery door fragile.
Battery door did not survive the drop to the front rug from a height of 3 feet. Poor design - very thin plastic under continuous spring tension. Photo shows my makeshift repair with a longer screw and a washer. Other than that, the kids love them.

Well made and perfect for tiny children
Bought these for my tiny children and they are surprisingly well made. They aren’t that bright BUT tiny kids shouldn’t have access to overly bright lights in my opinion so they are perfect for our needs. Kids absolutely love them.

The retaining screw is an issue
Purchased product based on good reviews, however upon receiving the product I ended up stripping the screw that holds the batteries in place on the first try. I was using precision screwdrivers but the manufacturer shipped the unit with the screw over tightened. I will be contacting the manufacturer regarding this design flaw.
