Merry Christmas, Alex Cross (Alex Cross Adventures, 2)

Not sure how I missed this in the series but it was a fast-paced, magnificent read. Can't wait for the Prime Video series. Wow!

Never give the highest rating cuz I always think the next book will be better! And, I'm never disappointed! James Patterson has a mind that offers readers all kinds of scenarios- some seemingly implausible, and manages to deliver mind boggling, convoluted techniques to solve each dilemma. Very satisfying and also enlightening. Good one!

I bought this book for sentimental/humor reasons. I have not read any of James Patterson's other works at this time. While on vacation with my husband and four of our daughters in December of 2012, we saw the commercial for this book dozens of times. My daughters were very creative in their reenactment of the authors presentation. I bought it used on Amazon as a funny addition to our Christmas Day celebration in 2014. I have since read the book - before giving it to my daughters to read, if they chose. I enjoyed the book although this is not the type of book I would normally choose. I will almost certainly read additional works by Mr Patterson after reading this one. It's a fast read, with enough details to make the stories interesting but not so much that it has to be read in a quiet room - a good book to read while waiting in the car, for an appointment, in the next room while the TV is on, etc., Enjoyable entertainment reading. I will not be giving this book to my teenaged and young adult daughters to read due to some of the content. They may seek it out themselves, it just wouldn't feel right to suggest it to them. All in all I enjoyed the read but am happy I didn't pay full price.

Nothing more to say except I am a huge fan of James Patterson. I love the Alex Cross series and I hope they continue.

I'm a James Patterson fan, and Alex Cross fanatic. Personally I was bored with this book because I felt as though James Patterson forgot who Alex Cross was. This book did not display the prose of a veteran detective and former FBI agent. The beginning storyline has Alex and his partner Sampson on a stakeout at the church on Christmas Eve. Quite frankly a rookie detective would have handled this stakeout, even if Nana mama asked Alex to take care of it. Alex gets precious little time with his family, this situation was not worthy of Alex's attention.Second scene a hostage negotiation. Alex was spending time with family and gets called in on his day off. This is Washington DC. There is a hostage crises everyday, why was this one important to Alex Cross? Even sillier was the fact that Bree, Alex's wife, who happens to be a fellow cop, shows up at the hostage crises and tells Alex how much he disappointed the family by leaving on Christmas Eve. Seriously I felt that was just silly and not worthy of Alex Cross or Bree.Where the books starts to get good is in the second part, the re-introduction from a previous book, of Hala Al Dossari's character. The plot was realistic, fast paced and character driven. I wished this book would have stayed focused on the terrorist plot and not included the first two cases.Great first read for newbies to Patterson books and the Alex Cross series but just a mediocre selection for anyone who spent time investing in the character Alex Cross.

Merry ChristmasDetective Alex Cross always seems to have his life interrupted when a call for help comes and interrupts him and his family. This is the way we have learned to see Alex and this book is no different. It is set on Christmas Eve and he is at home “relaxing and enjoying” the holidays and trimming the tree when he gets a call to please rush over to a hostage situationHenry Fowler had been married and had two children but now he was divorced, alone and a shell of the man he used to be. He lost his job, his money and had been arrested numerous times in the past few months.Once the divorce was over Diana had married Dr. Barry Nicholson and they had continued to live in the house Henry once lived in. Henry is completely out of control, on drugs, and holding his wife, two children, Dr. Nicholson and Mrs. Brandywine whose husband is a Congressman from Colorado.Of course after missing Christmas Eve with his family and putting himself in terrible danger he is able to resolve the situation but it is not easy and lot of tense moment ensure.After finally getting home and actually getting some sleep it is now Christmas Day and once again, another phone calls comes in and this is even worse, millions of people are put in danger and the snow has left more then twenty inches on the ground. It is impossible for Alex to even drive but they need him and will come to pick him up.Mr. Cross is either dealing with psychotic people or terrorist groups and this is not how he planned spending the holidays. Nearly escaping death himself he helps to once again help settle a situation that is almost impossible to fathom, we know Alex Cross is a hero and he proves it once again in Merry Christmas.You won’t be disappointed and prepare to give yourself lots of time as I only put it down once and then had to read it until it was done, as it will have you on the edge of your seat. Merry Christmas.

I enjoyed the read and the hardships of trying go do your job and be s good person at the same time.

It's a quick read, I finished this book in one day, but it's very fast paced and intriguing. I haven't read a lot of christmas books, but this one is a top one for me. I like the original 5 alex cross books, and this is one of his better ones that was published later down the line.

I linked the story. Irvin it moved quickly from one scene to another . Crazy corrupt lawyer fallen from grace and terrorists from Saudi. Good reading for all James Patterson fans.
