and I am glad I did
I am pumped about this helmet, just got back from a 200 mile ride through the Hill Country and decided to review this purchase while it was fresh on my mind. This is my first Modular Helmet that I have owned, so my review will be based on this experience only. I done a ton of research before buying this product. I knew I wanted a Modular helmet, I've always been partial to half helmets or no helmet at all, but with further rides, living closer to the city, and riding in the Hill Country, I wanted more protection as well as bluetooth for GPS purposes. I will definitely buy another helmet for my wife and kids to wear when we ride 2 up !!!Sizing - I wear a 7 1/4 Fitted Cap, Measurement of head is 22 3/4 inches. By the Helmet sizing guideline provided online, I should have went with a Large, but after reading other reviews I decided to go with the XL, and I am glad I did. The Helmet fits perfect, not so tight that I am uncomfortable, but snug enough to feel secure and safe. The very top of the helmet does not have a lot of cushioning and you can feel itLooks and user friendliness. - I went with Matte Black, looks great no scratches. the bluetooth and sun shades switch is easily found with gloves on and moves smoothly. The tabs for ventilation are a little more difficult to locate with gloves on, and I could tell no difference in circulation closed or open (might make it a hot helmet during the summer) The quick release works great and is easy to unfasten the helmet.Visors - both visors come with a protective cover and were spotless, no scratches. The flip down sun shades are not very dark, and they will fog up if you breath heavy upwards, but that is expected. THe fog went away very fast with flipping up the outside shade a notch. My sun shade slides down effortlessly and goes all the way back inside the helmet when I don't need it any longer.Bluetooth - As stated in other reviews the speakers do not have much bass, but as far as clarity and loudness, I found that I had no problem hearing music or GPS running 75 MPH, and I didn't have the volume all the way up. I had my wife call me to try out the mic. I could hear her great, but she said I sounded muffled, but she said she could hear me and understood everything I said. (only going 35 mph, did not test it going faster)Weight - I don't have any complaints on the weight, it did not distract me while riding. It is heavier than what I am used to, but overall I expected expected the weight with a full face/modular helmet.Noise - I am actually impressed with the amount of wind noise. I couldn't believe how quiet this helmet was at 75mph today. No problems if I looked either direction, or up and down, it was quiet. Granted, I am accustomed to nothing over my ears when I ride, so I couldn't believe the peace I had while riding today.Cons -The two outside tabs that attach the wind protector to your helmet under your chin do not stay attached. when you pull the modular jaw down you will have to re-insert these two tabs. Not a big issue, but it is something that I will have to deal with everytime I wear this helmet. The charging port for the Bluetooth battery cover is very flimsy, the rubber stob that it used to pull it open ripped off on the very first attempt.

Great helmet
Great helmet for the money probably most comfortable helmet I have had over the years just if you getting this one go up a size from what you normally wear I don’t see what some people are complaining about with the quality of the sound it sounds great sounds just as good as my iPhone I mean it is speakers inside a helmet your not at a concert if you’re looking for a affordable comfortable helmet with Bluetooth and intercoms you can’t go wrong with this ILM 953 pro it’s a good buy

I'm moving BACK to this helmet, after spending over a grand on others.
I'm brushing the dust off this one and replacing the visor to put it back on the road.I'm a modular buff. I smoke while I ride, but prefer to ride full-faced as I have kids and a wife. Modular helmets are my only option.I've had THREE of these (returned two because of faulty Bluetooth, it still doesn't work), a couple of HJC modulars, two cheap $100 Amazon modulars (they were absolutely terrible), a scorpion exo modular (almost as bad as the $100 modulars), and currently ride with the ILM Street fighter modular (the one that flips all the way back).I tossed or returned all but this and the street fighter. I have the pro version. The shell construction is much more confidence inspiring than the flimsy super thin plastic of the $100 helmets, AND the flimsy scorpion. AND, it weighs the same!Area of vision is greater in both ILM's than any other I've tried, a little better than my old HJC's. No distortion, perfect clarity. Unobstructed field of view. This helmet has a cheeck guard clip on wind thingy that works well, and is great in the rain even though it fogs up.Rode with this from Tampa to Lynchburg VA for a funeral (through a tropical storm THE WHOLE WAY), and sunny the whole way back. 50hrs on my bike.Fog want much of an issue as long as I could crack my visor, but when it was pouring I was relying on vents. pin-locks would have been nice, but it outperformed any other helmet I've had.My biggest complaint: my neck was killing me!!!!! It took months before my shoulder stopped hurting. Now I take breaks every 2 hours. I thought it was due to the weight, but I've had 4 different helmets since then and they are all within 0.1oz of each other. I think it's the balance. The Bluetooth SUCKS. Calls DO NOT work, reception is non existent.Automatically answers EVERY call. I hated this helmet so much because of the Bluetooth that it got to the point that every annoyance started to build and fester, hell- even the color began to annoy me.And, the lack of pin-locks made my morning commute miserable on some cold mornings in Florida. Finally, I scratched the visor to the point it had to be replaced. YES!!!!!!!I ended up with the street fighter after a few of the others, couldn't afford a shark. Now that the reviews on that helmet are coming in, I'm glad I didn't buy a shark. The street fighter with a better Bluetooth solved most of my problems, but I just moved to Georgia and it does NOT do well in the cold. No chin guard wind thingy, sucks in downpours, sits too high around the neck, AND NO PIN LOCKS!So I decided to dig out this helmet and see if they had visors available, and they now have fog lenses with pin-lock holes!!!!! YES!!!!It's really not as bad of a helmet as I thought. It has it's downsides, but it's light-years ahead of other helmets in it's price range. I've ordered FIVE ILM helmets, returned 3 due to the blacktooth and Amazon reselling used stuff, and all 5 were basically the same quality. Only one QC issue between all 5 helmets. I highly recommend ILM as the ONLY option for those on a budget.I'm considering HJC's new modular that flips all the way back, but for now it looks like this is my new winter helmet. I will be removing the Bluetooth and will probably make my own and 3d print a case to fit in the original hole.Bottom line: unless you have the ability to make your own Bluetooth and print a case to fit in the old hole, DO NOT BUY THIS HELMET. BUY AN ILM, BUT NOT ANY WITH THIS VERSION OF BLACKTOOTH.Note: I tried other blackteeth, including SENA, they all sucked, pretty badly. No volume, no bass or clarity. Soo.... I tucked my tail and came back to freedconn the way I did ILM. bought one of their better versions for my street fighter helmet, and IT KICKS ASC. Great volume, CALLS WORK, great sound. Can't tell if my my helmet is windy when I turn it up lol.

Broken worthless.
Hello, I do t write reviews regularly. I did feel the need to this time. Looks great doesn’t function, the battery won’t charge and CS “sent one”? That was 3 months ago, I never received the replacement and now the damn visor just broke on the side. I know how to put it on, but the bracket itself is broken. I have done nothing to cause this. I’m in my late 40’s and I ride a Segway to commute. Helmet is always well cared for and placed on its own shelf at home and at work! Bad product save none use ear buds line me! I should have listened to that voice in my head skeptically telling me too good to be true.
