The Classic, The Uncommon and Many More. I Like it!
A goodly collection of activities many I'm eminently familiar with like Action Charades, Human Knot, and Balloon Keepy Ups as well as many other creative games I'd love to see performed like Queen Bee (kids pretending to be bees searching for correct colored paper flowers), Squirrels ( placing pretend nuts in an ever diminishing number of hula hoops which are their homes) and Centipede (holding ankles in a line while on floor and trying to scoot forward in unison). Book includes action/poetry numbers you'll recognize like 'Do Your Ears Hang Low" and "If You're Happy and You Know It" as well as popular movement stories such as "The Tortoise and the Hare" and "The Three Little Pigs". Has an active table of contents at the beginning with handy links so you may easily access all the material in any order you choose which is greatly appreciated. Fine book and one I'll have my daughter the elementary school OT give a look as it is loaded with great ideas I'm sure she'll find handy. Very good book!

Very professional and effective
In an attempt to put it briefly, “Movement Start” is a very unique, professional, and creative full of plenty of relatable and children-oriented stories and activities (the latter being something that I haven’t come across much in this genre, and which I am left more than impressed by).It was clear to me within just the first few chapters that author Julie Meighan truly has a genuine understanding of child education, in a way that makes her ideas not only efficient and helpful, but also entertaining and enjoyable – the perfect blend, in my opinion. As well as this, I think it’d be accurate to say that the author also has a true passion for helping children, which shows through the well-refined, high quality nature of the writing style. There’s dozens upon dozens of different concepts and ideas for people to try with kids, and honestly I think there’s something for just about everyone that can be found within the book; whether it be songs, stories, or actual physical activities. I so far have seen some successful results from the songs especially, as many of them require interaction from the kids which helps them get involved and become a part of process – even the shyer children in the group that I work with have had no problem participating, which I must caused me to not only be impressed but also quite surprised. Overall, I’m left more than impressed and I look forward to trying out some more of the ideas in the future. I can’t recommend author Julie Meighan’s “Movement Start” enough!
