DakineAero Rack Pads 18In - Black

I live in the midwest so surfing is somewhat of a myth. I actually purchased these pads in lieu of a roof rack fairing to cut wind noise - and they work well. Both were placed side-by-side on my front roof rack crossbar.The concept is simple - foam padding enclosed in a nylon liner. The bottom of the pad has a strong velcro flap - place over the crossbars and enclose. The velcro secures the pads fine and won't blow off (despite my skepticism). This works well to break the wind current that causes howling & whistling on roof rack crossbars at high speeds. This method doesn't completely remove the wind noise but that's a problem with my crossbars - the crossbar overhang (past the rails) is generating the remaining noise.They're easy to take down with a quick pull on the velcro.My only complaint is with the enclosure - it is very snug for approximately 1" x 2" aero crossbars. I didn't notice any sizing references for crossbar & pad sizing. Considering snug is better than loose (and they ultimately fit) this isn't an issue for me. I'm not so sure this size would work on square crossbars.Why not a roof rack fairing? A fairing is a 36" piece of plastic but 3x more expensive and, in my opinion, ugly.

Great item, durable and looks great on the racks. Not easy to take off which was great.

Good pads! Nothing to complain about. Velcro works perfect. Does not feet right on narrow bars though.

I have a Nissan Murano and bought 2 sets of these (a total of 4 pads) and they fit perfectly on the rack. They are very easy to install and the velcro is high quality keeping the pads in place. I keep them on all the time in sunny (and tropical) Florida and they are holding up great. No sun bleaching, or any signs of weather damage. Dakine is a solid manufacturer.

I am just going to write about what I wish I knew other than what's already been said on the other reviews here. These rack pads with the flat bottom fit and look amazing on aero styled racks as you can see my my attached picture. One concern I had before purchasing was the velcro coverage, so I tried buying the XL version of these pads, but they seem to be discontinued. To quell anyones worries, the velcro on the bottom is 1.5-2 inches, and on my Yakima Whispbar they cover are 70%, which is plenty. Considering the strength of the velcro, I would say even 20% coverage would have been plenty. Needless to say, there is no way wind, or even a hefty nudge would easily pry these off the bar.

The pads were fine and they looked good. They fit my aero bars on my 2015 RAV4 just fine. However, they require a tie down system that was both inconvenient and extremely likely to damage my car. But the company was fantastic about the return. If you like this tie down system, these pads are definitely the best, and the company's service is awesome..

These bad boys stand up to some serious abuse! My wife and I each have a pair on our roof racks. Our one car has had the same pair on them for nearly 10 years and they still look and work great.

These pads are easy to fit, are well made and provide great protection for your board.

This is for small diameter bars, seems to be good quality but it doesn’t fit my bars, keep an eye on this details before purchase
