Size up, son.
I originally bought these without trying them on, from a department store that rhymes with Prick's. I owned a couple pairs a few years ago, and loved how lightweight, and quick-drying they were. However, my past joy soon became a sort of angry sadness, as my regular size was very tight in my man-junk area. Nevertheless, momma didn't raise no quitter, and I willed myself to wear these an ENTIRE DAY, just to prove a point, though the reason eludes me now. Though obviously past my prime, I foresaw a future of a long, slow castration by nylon. Having your testicles compressed will make you ANGRY. (That's my secret: I'm ALWAYS angry) ...MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE HALL OF JUSTICE: I frantically surfed the web and found Amazon had a better price on several, but not all, colors. When I searched the word "size", in the Reviews, I found multiple recommendations to SIZE UP. I immediately returned the undersized overgarment to the store whose name makes many men fearful of revealing how much they love it. Before leaving, I made certain to try THE NEXT SIZE UP in-store. I was surprised to find a them a perfect fit. I know you didn't ask, but I have a bit larger than average quads, bro, and glutes for daaayzzze. So, unless you have the legs of a bird, and you left your a$$ in your other pants - Size up, son!

Too tight in butt and thighs.
First off, I love Columbia sportswear clothing. Unfortunately, although these fit well in the waste they were far too tight in the booty and thigh area. this made the front pockets poke out in a weird-looking way. If these were slightly larger in those areas they would be five stars all the way.If you do squats or leg press on a regular basis these shorts probably won't fit around your butt and thighs very well. I tried six pairs of shorts from Amazon and the Lee's we're the only ones that fit well in the butt and thighs. You can see in the picture how the pockets stuck out all strangely.I tried:ColumbiaWranglerCarharttGerry X 2Some Chinese brand (2nd best actually)Lee'sThe Lee's fit beautifully. If you've got a booty on you then those are your best bet.

Read Reviews & Then Order
I picked these shorts up for my hubby and gave them to him this past weekend. It was an early Fathers Day gift,( he was in dire need of some good shorts). I originally ordered them in his regular size and after I ordered I read the reviews. Many all agreed that they were a great short but most of them had to go up one size because they seemed to run a size smaller. So I ordered him two pair and I sized up one size. The verdict is in... the 2 pair that worked were the ones that were the larger sizes. So glad I thought to read the reviews... even though it was an afterthought. He loves the fabric a lot because it's very lightweight and this fabric has moisture wicking capabilities. So the moisture dissipates quickly and helps to keep you feeling dry and not sweaty. Columbia offers a variety of sizes and many colors to choose from. I'd also like to send a big shout out to the vendor that fulfilled my order. I got my order quickly and was processed efficiently. I appreciate the fantastic service and thank them very much. Hope this helps anyone who reads this.

Comfy but revealing
Hard to fault these shorts, they're cool, I've felt,A lightweight fabric and a built-in belt. But that fabric itself is has its cons and its pros,When wet, it dries quickly, faster if the wind blows. But the fabric's so thin, and sized small, just a smidgen,It displays well your gender, as well as religion. So friend, be forewarned, while stylish, beware,These shorts will display your equipment down there.

Front pockets 2 3/4 inches deep, useless!
I love Columbia products. They are rugged, light weight, and dry quickly. I have purchased at least 6 pair of shorts over the last 20 years. My problem with these shorts is that they cut off the front pockets to about 2 and 3/4 inches deep, from the lowest seem. Why would they do this? These are cargo shorts! My cell phone falls out of the pocket every time I sit down. I run around in a panic searching for my phone only to find it in the last chair I was in or in my car seat. The stress of losing my phone every time I sit down is unbearable. I have tried to put the phone in the lower front pocket, but it slaps on my front thigh, and then swings around and slaps the back of my leg. The lower front pocket is clearly not the solution. I know that they have cut out all pockets in women's clothing, and I am guessing the same with men's skinny jeans. But I refuse to go out and purchase a European Man Bag, it's not for me. Ha, ha, all kidding aside, Columbia must clearly state that they have changed the product that they have been selling for years. I could have returned it but I had already washed it. I don't really like returning items anyway. What I do is simple stop purchasing from that company ever again. Fool me once, ...

Not durable enough for their intended purpose
I bought these shorts for my husband, who is rather slim. Needless to say they fit him well, but tended to shrink a bit in the inseam. The 10" inseam shorts are actually 9.5" when new, but shrink to under 9" after several washings. The shorts are very light weight and my husband really liked them for hiking. Unfortunately, the seems in the rear have started to pull out. The way that they are constructed has the inner mesh pocket sewn directly to the outer material. Because of this, if the threads come out holding the pocket, it becomes totally useless as a pocket. Supposedly Columbia Sportswear is "tested tough", but in this case not so much! I have contacted Columbia, and they require that the item be shipped back to them for evaluation. In this case they definitely need to evaluate their design. For a supposed hiking short, they seem to be too delicately made.

Lightweight, comfortable, very practical.
Have always liked Columbia's shorts because they're lightweight, quick-drying, comfortable, and practical. These are no exception, as they have 6 pockets in total (2 hand mesh pockets, 2 rear velcro pockets, a left-leg zippered pocket and a right-leg velcro pocket). Plus they come with their own basic nylon webbed belt in grey which seems to work well enough, but can be removed if you want. Leg length is 10 inches (from crotch to hem) so they sit just above the knee hence the sizing guide of 34/10 (in case you were wondering). The waist also has small elasticated sections on both sides so the fit is snug but comfortable. Easy 5 star from me.

Great Shorts. Lightweight, Comfortable and Durable
These are great shorts for an outdoor lifestyle. Ordered these for the summer to walk the dog, for family outings and to generally lounge around in.They are so comfortable, lightweight yet warm, quick drying, durable and with plenty of versatile pocket storage. Loved them so much, I bought another 2 pairs in other colours.Without doubt, these Columbia shorts are up there with the best.

It is what it says
This was bought as a gift for my husband. It arrived in good time - a bit disapointing in the packaging as it came in a small plastic bag and was rather crumpled considering the price tag of £45. The fit was perfect and the choice given to have only 10 inch length of leg was perfect and the reason for the order. Makeup and quality are good but overall I think it a little bit too expensive in a competitive market but there are few people offering a choice of leg lengths.Mrs. P.

Great pair of shorts
Bought as a present, the shorts look and feel good. They are made from a thin material which is what you are looking for in a pair of shorts. I cannot comment on the durability however they do look well made and i have a columbia ski jacket that is over 10 years old so expect these to last.
