Adequate stove is better than competition
After using three or four different table top stoves (not the small cylinder camping types) that were terribly weak we got a Camp Chef and I kinda like this one best. Kinda. I live in Mexico on the coast and everybody around here uses table top stoves - ovens don't get used much and it's easier and cheaper than a range.I have to say, that in a field of really poor stoves, this one shines as adequate and hot. It's got some features and they do work. But it's raving reviews reflect the poor state of this industry, I think. Others have discussed the features, but I want to discuss all the Camp Chef might want to improve.1) Ranger stove has a side outlet for gas- on a table top stove, rear outlet makes more sense. for managing hose installation. I with they would do this.2) Ignition. The way the valve works, the ignition sparks first, then the gas starts into the pipe. It's backwards. So we often spend more time trying to get it to light than other stoves with sparks or than using a lighter. The trick is to open the valve, knowing that it won't light, leave it open for a second, then close it so that you can open it again and spark will have gas to light. Repeat when it doesn't work the first time. This is hardly impressive functionality, but it's workable.3) Valve usage. Everytime you go to turn it off you have to fumble through various stops and detents to turn it off. Always awkward, I've had it for two months now, and hope I;ll eventually get the hang of it.4) Three very hot burners. No medium burners. It's tricky using this stove for my smaller pots and saucepans. There are settings that work if you fidget, but generally it's turn it to low and water never boils or else medium flame is now tumbling out the sides and burning handle, hands wasting energy that misses the pot. Please put a medium btu burner in the mix, Camp Chef.5) these burners want a lot of air to get a clean flame. The air inlet is barely adequate for the gas flow at sea level. Some burners on my stove work better than others. The middle one on my stove is just too yellow and marks the pots. And yes, I have the air inlet all the way open- it wouldn't work any other way.6) The stove is tall. Tallest of all the table top stoves I've used. It's uncomfortable on a counter ht (36") surface for me at 5'10". Worse for my wife. I'm looking into ways to cut the legs down, but they don't make it easy. Maybe they were concerned about heat on a wood table, I don't know.7) It's hard to clean the food that inevitably falls through into the reflector below. A screwdriver and two screw solve the problem, but disassembly is not ideal. It's the least of my concerns, but worth noting. So, anybody who's looking for a business niche, I suggest you consider making countertop stoves. There is plenty of room for brilliant design in this field. Camp Chef is leading a pack of really poor designs with their adequate one.

Heavy weight stove for my heavy weight pots/pans.
What I love about the stove:: I was surprised how big and powerful the burners are. i have always used an electric stove and butane / propane camping stove. So i was a little scared and uncomfortable when i tested it. Even at a low setting, flame was still strong. But when i learned that i can lower the flame more when it was in the warm setting, my fears gone. I never needed to cook in the medium or high. I always use the warm setting. ANother thing i love is that its very sturdy and can handle my cast iron or donabe. This was my primary concern, tahts why i didnt get those stainless burners cause i was afraid ot cant carry a heavy weight pans. What i don’t like :: i’d give it 5 starr if the ranges are a little further apart. The middle range becomes useless when you use two big pans. Thsi is why i chose this over the 2 burner stove. Its hard to clean the metal sheet thats under the burners. Its pricey but i cant complain cause so far i coudnt find any other better solution to my problem here. Another complain is the weight. This is heavy, hard to move around. but then again it can hold my heavy weight pans so its ok.Overall im happy with its performance and very satisfied with my purchase.

Great stove, add an extra shut off valve for low heat cooking
I love this stove, I live in a camper trailer and installed it as the kitchen stove by routing the line outside for the propane tank, I’ve been cooking regularly on it for over a year and I love it. It’s sturdy cast iron, I can cook with heavy cast iron pans without being gentle on it and have had no problem, the only thing about it that may have been a problem for indoor cooking is that the burners really burn big and hot, (this is probably an advantage for outdoor cooking with wind) so it would have been impossible to simmer, but luckily when I installed it I added an indoor gas shut off right at the stove, and that enables me to put the burner on low, then cut the gas down even more and it works perfectly, with this I can boil huge pots quickly as well as cook on very low heat. The burners are close together, too close for three large pots, but perfect to use one side and the middle for a griddle with even heat, then have the other side open for any size pan. The legs scratch my countertop if I move it around, but that doesn’t bother me, you could put felt stickers or something on them. It’s sort of heavy so I can’t really imagine taking it camping or hauling it around, but for the purpose of a camper/RV, or outdoor kitchen this thing is awesome, I really recommend adding the extra gas shutoff valve to be able to cook at lower temps, otherwise I have no complaints and am super happy with this stove.

AMAZING!!
We love this! We love having three burners. It is SOLID. We use it inside of our well ventilated cabin. (Packaging states outdoor use) This stove is wider than typical camp propane stoves. Hence three nice burners to cook on. It is a little heavier due to solid quality materials used to make it.It self ignites every time on the second attempt. I love the range in flame level. Can actually simmer and keep things warm with out overcooking or burning. We use SOOOOOOO much LESS propane than with our various camping stoves from REI such as coleman etc. They leaked gas and low setting was a joke on those. The construction quality is superior. No flimsy cheap like the camp stoves you usely see. This cost more but worth it. We highly recommend.
