DAP 1360 - manual could be better
The AP arrived (from Avides in Germany) in double quick time - excellent service there! We bought it for use as a wireless repeater to extend the range of a wireless network. Setting it up is fine if you can use the Windows application provided on the installation CD.If, like us, you have Apple Macs you have to do it manually following the instruction manual (also on the CD). Connection to the AP for setup is via an ethernet cable (provided) into your computer's network port. The manual says that, once this connection has been made "you can access the configuration menu, at any time, by opening a web browser page and typing in the device name of the DAP-1360." A key point missed (or maybe very well hidden) in the manual at this stage is that the IP address of your network port needs to be set in the same range as that of the AP otherwise the two cannot communicate. Typically it will be set automatically to match the range of your broadband router so, has to be changed manually (in our case to 192.168.0.55, which worked OK). Obvious if you are a network guru, less so if you are not. Thankfully the D-Link support line staff are very helpful 'though the service is not cheap at 10p per minute from a UK landline once you have listened to the usual list of button pushing instructions and hung on to be connected to a real person. In summary:- delivery (from Avides) is quick and the price is reasonable- the product works fine and can perform a wide range of functions- the set-up manual would benefit from a rewrite for those of a less technical disposition.Overall, we're happy!

Good but wrong plug
D-Link are great and this access point is up to their usual quality.NOT UK MODELI bought the DAP 1360 from this site because it was the cheapest but beware- it is the European version which has the Euro 2 pin plug on the power supply. They provide an adapter which is ok but it's a bit of a messy solution. I'll make sure the next ones I buy are the UK version.MANUAL PROBLEMSecond point is that I am suprised that in order to communicate with the device initially either directly or with the CD, you have to set your computer to have a static IP address of 192.168.0.xx (I used 192.168.0.49). It's a glaring omission from the manual and I'm amazed that D-Link don't cover this.

D-Link access point / extender / repeater
Straightforward to set up. Can be set up either as an access point (with Ethernet cable to a device or router) or as a range extender for an existing router.
