Great product for a low price
Per the request of the manufacturer, I am writing this review. Overall, I am happy with the service and the great support I received. The installation was indeed very easy and everything works as advertised. The only cons I have found thus far are that the Rear camera cable and the cigarette lighter cable could stand to be a couple of feet longer for better hiding/routing of the wires/cables and the display is difficult to see in bright sunlight. The installation video shows a sticky pad for use in attaching the rear camera to the rear window. There was no such pad in my box. So, I wrote the manufacturer and thus began a long series of follow up emails. Therein, a representative said he would mail me one. But, there was on question I never got a complete answer for. The cable that goes to the rear camera has a plug on one end that connects to the Mirror and on the other end runs to two items. One is the rear camera. The other is a single red wire which the instructions do not mention what to do with. The red wire is not needed for the rear camera to function as advertised. I wrote the manufacturer and received a quick response. This led to several emails back and forth where I tried to get information on what to do with the red wire. There is also a review here on Amazon that discusses it. Both the manufacturer and the reviewer mentioned a black wire. But, there is no single black wire on the rear camera end of the cable. I tried to get an answer as to where this mysterious black wire is. The manufacturer stated that the red wire is to be wired to the hot line of the Backup light and the black wire to the ground of the backup light. But, again, there is no separate black wire. I have not tried this nor am I recommending you try this, but as an Electrical Engineer, I know "Black Wire" refers to a ground wire. The only thing I can think of is that I either have the wrong cable (yet the manufacturer assured me that I do have the correct cable), or that I need to cut into the cable, locate a black ground wire inside it, then cut into it and spice/solder a separate black wire to run to the ground of the backup light. This supposedly allows the unit to "When putting the car in reverse, the screen will automatically switch to the rear camera and adds green/yellow/red guide lines for parking assistance."The complete email thread follows:------------------------------------------------------Hi TheDM,Thank you for your detailed feedback! A $10 Amazon gift card is issued to you for our appreciation.Claim Code:XXXXXXXXXXPlease claim it at Amazon.comSurprise to know you actually are electric engineer. From my side, I have no idea about your question. I need contact to manufacturer to get more information. But I am sure you have received a functional(no missing part) product. Please forgive me have only limited information. If possible, you can post your review in our Amazon list page (of course positive review is desired :)) and share your experience about the installation of this camera. This will great help others. Appreciated!Regards,Manufacturing representative----------------------------------------------------------------Hi TheDM,I will mail adhesive pad to you. Sorry for missing this! You can try to connect red cable to the positive electrode of reversing light and connect the black one to car body.Regards,Manufacturing representative----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thank you for the photo!I just mailed out your pad.Firstly, we don't recommend customer change the car circuit because we can't take the potential risk depend on variable situations in different cars. That's why we didn't put it on manual. This is a hidden function to switch the backward screen to large. One review from another customer in amazon list page said:"Tip: this isn't covered in the installation instructions but the red/black wires on the rear camera cable should be spliced to the reverse lights power lead. When putting the car in reverse, the screen will automatically switch to the rear camera and adds green/yellow/red guide lines for parking assistance."You can refer tips from others.Appreciated for your business!Regards,Manufacturing representative----------------------------------------------------------2017-07-26 7:36 GMT-07:00Thanks for sending the mounting pad. That is interesting. There are two ends to the rear camera cable. The red wire and a black mini plug that I assume connects the the mirror hole marked gps. You make it sound like there is a black wire like the red wire. There is no black ground wire to connect to the car body. Did you misspeak or do I have an incorrect cable? See attached photo.-------------------------------------------------Sent: 2017-07-25 11:49:06 PMSubject: adhesive padHi TheDM,I will mail adhesive pad to you. Some info for cam in rear view mirror
I have come to conclusion that u get what u payfore. This unit at least worked. Instructions next to none. Still don't know what the extra red and black wire are. Fiddled around got the date and time figured out. U need to have some savvy to program it. Have not used it in real world yet.

Low cost, high value, feature rich. Would buy again.
Minor con is that it doesn't come with cord clips to help route the power and rear camera cables. I can't comment on cold midwest winter use, but it has handled the hot summer days well so far. I have also only used it during the day, so keep that in consideration throughout. In mirror display, is seen easily when you focus on it, yet it is virtually unnoticeable when looking into it as you would any rear view mirror. A safety and eye comfort win.Durable and sturdy.Quality video. +++ Both front and rear, each having their own files, recorded simultaneously, with the same audio on both.Audio is sufficient. Don't expect HD surround sound stereo.Easy to configure, install and use. Good thing since the poor documentation is a waste of a (re:1) perfectly good piece of paper.

I went back and bought another one of these
The media could not be loaded. I bought this item on the basis of price and specs, but with no reviews at the time it was a leap of faith. It arrived yesterday and first impressions are good. I plugged it in and it worked, played with the buttons for a bit and figured out what they did, then strapped it over the original mirror and that was all there was to the setup. I did try the smaller second camera and it worked well enough, but I didn't have time to mount it so until I get around to doing so I'm happy with just the main camera. Video quality is fine for my needs, and though I had planned on swapping it over between vehicles, at the current price I may well order another one for my other vehicle. I'm taking one star off as the quality of the anti-reflective film leaves a touch to be desired (mine has a bubble in it) but it is still quite functional.Update 6 November 2016: added a video from my way to work just at the first light of dawn - it may not show up on the Amazon version due to image compression, but at the end of the clip the plate of the car in front of me is fully readable on the original video. Also, I have ordered the second one for my other vehicle.Update 21 November 2016: While installing the second vehicle's camera (first chance I've had to do it) there was a protective plastic layer covering the mirror - when I went back and looked at the first one I realized that the "bubble" in the anti-reflective film I mentioned on the original review was actually just that protective film, but unlike the second one the first one didn't really have an easy way to identify that it was a protective film that was supposed to be removed. With that removed I no longer have any issues at all with this camera and give it a full 5 stars

Doesnt fit well, and doesn't work anymore
UPDATE #3 The mirror will not read any sdcards. So it's basically useless now. I would not recommendUpdate #2- will power on then shuts right off. I think the issue is in the 12 v plug in wire.Update - I have hooked up the camera. The settings button and the screen view button are switched. This makes me feel like this is a low quality product because that is an easy mistake to spot. The cameras are good, unless it is nighttime then I can't see anything unless there are a lot of streetlights. This mirror does not fit well at all on my suv. The camera isn't far left enough, so if I put it on straight the camera is against the mirror. If I put this mirror offset to the left my mirror sticks off of the right side. It looks like crap mounted like that.
