Nice little piece of history given the Chan touch
There are a lot of reviews that are complaining about it not being a "proper Jackie Chan film" --- It isn't.It's a proper film. It seems as if there are a lot of poeple that expect a JC film to be all about JC and his martial arts wizadry of his younger years. This is a film where he is one of the main stars, but not THE star.Did you all forget he retired?Anyone care to remember he was over 60 when he made this? How many of you two and one star reviewers even knew Japan invaded China and murdered thousands of their people? So yeah, it's a film about the terrible occupation of China and how the people rebelled and threw them out after the army failed to. It's that simple. Even if not true, as an allegory, it's great. The failed Seppuku scene (they are too cowardly to even kill themselves)People getting killed (always off screen to show respect that this is entertainment, not a war film)The gags and jokes (making light of a bad situation where thousands were murdered)JC acting like a proper actor and not just doing stunts and crazy chases (showing the seriousness of the film)Japanese rule keeping the yokels subservient (while all the time being the butt of the joke and being shown how incompetent they really are by some railway workers)You knew he was 60+ when you bought the film, what were you expecting? He would be 35 again and jumping all over the place like a maniac?Yes, you can whine and complain that there isn't enough action, but he is a retired 60 year actor that does an occasional film. This one was a great story about a terrible period in Chinese history and how they overcame their Japanese overlords. It's a proper Jackie Chan film, not some martial arts nonsense.

Classic Chan Action Movie
with a good story line to provide the action, subtle touches of humour that kept me transfixed as the storyline evolved based on a actual event during the war of occupation with Japan. The rapport that cast had with each other was first class and the villains played their parts to perfection. Watching with Chinese friends who were very complementary and felt this was one of Jackie's best performances. The railway scenes were excellent, but a possible gripe is whether the passenger coaches were of the actual period the film was set. A great film to watch if this run of good weather was to turn inclement!

Passable!
2&half stars! It was alright ,nothing special! Bit boring! Nearly 2hrs long! Chan plays a group of chinese thieves known as the railroad tigers ,who find a wounded soldier who as to blow up a bridge etc he is killed ,so tigers decide to finish the mission blow it up , usual chan ,comedy stunts sentimental! Was,nt best/worse chan film ,
