Stellar Attempt | Reads like a Thriller.. Enjoyable!
Bulls, Bears and Other Beasts.. is a stellar attempt by Santosh to encapsulate the evolution of the Indian Stock Markets until now, engagingly. What makes it even more commendable is its presentation - seen through the eyes of Lalchand Gupta, an endearing and cleverly sketched character who witnesses the peaks and troughs of the market, while taking the reader along with him in this thrilling journey as he grapples with the bulls, bears and well.. other (ruthless and greedy) beasts in the marketplace. Therefore, it isn't by any means some dull documented account filled with facts and figures of stock markets (as one may presume) . Far from it, the reader is breezily taken through the disorganized ways of the marketplace as was earlier, the infamous scams, listings of key blue chips and stocks, landmark policy developments and stock market achievements and much more in a thrilling way. It is a great read for students, novices who are attempting to understand the stock market and anyone who is remotely associated with trading or has an interest in it. It isn't to say that there aren't any glitches at all. Some situations needn't have been overplayed 'fictionally' to much of an extent or in contrast, some news-worthy developments seem a bit rushed without much 'story' added to it. But that is nitpicking when one looks at the brave and marvelous attempt by the debut author and the sheer ambition this book exudes. In fact, there is a lot of wisdom between these pages that will stand in good stead for decades to come! And the fun part is that it is so simply put that anybody can connect with it and understand it! Splendid all the way..!

Must read for students of India's economic growth story
For students of Indian stock market, this book is a fabulous read for the efforts taken by the author to chronicle its evolution from being a Wild West to a mature well-regulated one. The writing is breezy which makes the book a cover to cover type of a read as one is eager to know what's in store next. It's commendable that the book does not shy away from bringing to light the murky dealings and stock manipulation over the years. The timing of the book is absolutely right as we see a shift in investor mindset in India towards Equity investing. An interesting element of the book to me was the marriage of fictional and non-fictional material without making it disjointed at any given point in time. The only criticism would be the lack of a more detailed characterization of the lead protagonist and his world. But it is a minor flaw when seen from the perspective of the exhaustive market coverage that this book attempts to provide its readers. Looking forward to more books from the author. Well done Santosh Nair!

Timeline of key market events captured
The author captures the journey of a trader who narrates the key events as they unfold. The journey spans over 2 decades. The story tells about how the market evolved, the key players, the tricks of the trade and the trader's learning, which an investor/trader can easily relate to.Money well spent and the book need not be read in one session.. one can always come back and flip through certain sections.. its always a refreshing to look back at the events that shaped the market!

An Excellent read
This is an eye opener book on what really goes inside the market. It has lots of wisdom if you have taken notes from it, good for you.The storyline starts from 1992 to the 2014, and yes, we ourselves have experienced so many events as victims. Here he mentions what goes behind the scenes and how a group of people actually control the stock market. If you have loved the series 1992 scam, this book actually explains it better than the series about what exactly happened. Not only this but other such scams too. He also explains involvement of promoters and how to be wary about them.
