ThinOpticsKeychain Case and Readers Rectangular Reading Glasses

great for travel
I love these because they fit in the small compartment of the sling that I use for everyday vs a purse. I recently forgot my usual readers while going out for dinner and immediately had a bit of a panic wondering how I would read the menu. I remembered I had these with me as an emergency back up! They are small, light weight and really do stay on (surprisingly) I would use them in place of my usual readers for longer periods, but in a pinch they work well. Would recommend and in fact I may purchase another pair to put in my travel back pack just in case.

So handy!
I saw someone using these and had to get a pair. They are as useful and convenient as I imagined.Following cataract surgery my distance vision is exceptional, but I can't read a thing close up.These are easy to carry and quickly pull out when text is just a blur. They fit easily on a key chain without adding much bulk. I keep them with me always.I am told they scratch easily, but mine are still fine. They stay on your nose fairly well, but can fall off. The case is so convenient, but you need to be careful re-inserting them.Overall these are well worth having. The utility far outweighs the small inconveniences.

A great solution to not always needing glasses
A friend of mine had a pair of these that he was wearing. I was amazed as to how well they worked and how convenient they are. I am not a full-time glasseswarer but when I need to wear glasses, I need to wear glasses. Carrying these in my pocket is convenient and I can always read the menu or look at the fine details when my traditional reading glasses are not with me.

UPDATE: New nose piece and ThinOptics is sending replacement glasses
UPDATE: After this pair broke, I ended up buying the ThinOptics that come with the Universal Pod. Those glasses are different: the part that holds on to your nose is no longer the metal strips, it is plastic that is now attached at the top and bottom of the strip. They also did not look like the original glasses that came with the Keychain Case: the lens frames are a uniform thickness, where it looks like the Keychain glasses had a slight taper which would help them overlap when they fold up. I was hoping the Universal Pod ones would fit into the Keychain Case, but because of the difference I did not want to try it and end up ruining the new glasses. It is now 1 year after I bought the Universal Pod ThinOptics and they are still intact. I still miss being able to wear them around my neck, so I contacted ThinOptics through their website to see if I could just buy the glasses without the Keychain Case. They said if I send a picture of the broken ones then they would send a replacement at no cost. Luckily, I did still have them lying around for some reason, and after receiving the picture ThinOptics immediately sent out new, replacement glasses for free, not even a charge for shipping.I am now changing my previous 2 star rating to 5 stars. Will update if there are problems with the new glasses.UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: I received the new replacements - they are the newer style and are exactly the same as the ones I have that came in the Universal Case with the plastic, attached at both ends nose-pieces. They also fit in the keychain case. I have them around my neck again and am a very happy customer :)----OLD REVIEW: I removed the keyring part, put a smaller ring on the case, and made a necklace with these. I also sanded off the logo. Because of that, they were incredibly convenient as a cool-looking necklace that I can wear when I leave the house.Other than that, the reviews are all true:- It takes some fiddling to get them to stay on your nose, but it is manageable. The best way is to bend them outwards and let them grab your nose - there were 2 places on my nose where they would stay on. They fall off if you wiggle your nose or sneeze.- The metal nose pieces broke off. The first one about a month after I bought them, the 2nd many months later. They are less comfortable and leave marks on your nose without them, but they are still usable.- They broke completely yesterday, the springy bridge part snapped into a few pieces.I did use them a lot while they lasted and now I'm deciding whether I want to replace them or just try something else. If they were cheaper I would just replace the glasses and still use with my case, but for $20 I might try something more comfortable and durable.

Scratches galore!
After years of wearing progressive glasses, and being able to see near and far at all times, I switched to multifocal contacts. The catch was that with my prescription, I would need reading glasses on occasion, depending on what I was reading. I wondered how I would handle this glasses thing. I thought of carrying a small magnifying glass, but where would I keep it, and what if I needed to use both hands and see up close at the same time? It would have been a major nuisance to be going in and out of my purse every time I needed to use my glasses for only a few seconds.Enter ThinOptics readers! I ordered the keychain case, and clipped it to my belt loop. These glasses are perfect for when I need to to read something quickly for a short time. It's so easy to take them out of the case, and put them back! For the first few weeks of using my ThinOptics, I thought all my glasses troubles were resolved. Then came a disappointment. A few days ago, I took them out of the case to clean them. When I held them up to the light I found scratches on them. I then read the reviews on Amazon and noticed lots of complaints about scratches. Some people were even purchasing new pairs of ThinOptics every 3 months because they loved the glasses but hated the scratches.I carefully examined my case and realized that the scratches are the result of sliding the glasses in and out of the case. The inside of the case is just hard plastic with no soft lining. Besides the lack of a soft lining, the bottom end of the case, and the slider slot, are open at all times, allowing for dust particles to enter, and add to the scratches. This issue of the scratches is extremely disappointing to me, as I had already gotten accustomed to the convenience of these glasses. In order to avoid more scratches, I won’t use my keychain case anymore. I have replaced it with my leather AirPod case, which I purchased on Amazon a few years ago. It has a strap, so I can still keep it on my belt loop or on my purse strap. I insert the glasses with the nose piece through the bottom of the AirPod case. It fits perfectly in the hole for the Lightning charger cable. The outer edges of the lenses press against the sides of the case. The front and back of the lenses are not in contact with anything. When I insert and remove the glasses, only the outer edges of the glasses rub against the sides of the leather case. I don’t anticipate any additional scratches.ThinOptics comes with a case that causes scratches on the glasses. That is careless planning on the part of the person who created the cases. After so many complaints about scratches, I think the vendor should make an effort to redesign the cases. I would give 5 stars for the glasses alone. These glasses would be fine in a plastic credit card case with with a soft lining and hinges so that the glasses could be inserted and removed without sliding.

Brilliant idea, comfortable and very convenient
Brilliant idea. I am a tradesman and those normal glasses in big case are inconvenient. Need to find room for them in my pockets or toolbox. Also when I do a job and need to look down, the normal glasses move away from my eyes. These small ones sit on the nose close to eyes. When I got them, I tested them by looking down and shaking my head. I even blew my nose with these on. Didn't move. Now I find myself neglecting the normal ones and wearing these as they are more comfortable and convenient. Big names in selling glasses should sell these. All their customers will probably buy these too. Will see how long they will last without breaking.
