Perfect signal split with no loss of quality!
So far, it's doing exactly what I need it to do and without any loss or degradation in quality. I'm using the splitter to split the signal from my cable box so that one HDMI cable goes to my XBOX One and the other HDMI cable goes directly to a splitter which goes to my TV. I know what you're thinking - the Xbox One is a media center and has an HDMI output as well as an input, so why not just plug the cable box directly to the Xbox One? Well...for 2 reasons.First, I use a Harmony remote and you can't assign a button 2 commands for two different devices. For example, the pause button can't be used to pause a DVD and pause Live TV in the same activity. This means when I push the Play Xbox activity button on my remote, all the buttons are assigned commands specific to that activity. I know, I could customize the commands or create custom buttons on the screen but I just wanted to make it easier and less confusing...which brings me to my second reason why I didn't plug the cable box to my Xbox One:My wife. In order to avoid the confusion of using a cable remote in conjunction with the Harmony remote, I just decided to create a separate activity to watch cable. My wife can just push the Watch TV button and use the remote as intended. She can also use the DVR and OnDemand features on the cable box. For some reason, the One Guide on Xbox One doesn't allow you to access the DVR or On Demand functions. Even if you could get to the DVR or OnDemand menus, you can't use the arrow keys or OK button because those buttons control XBOX functions, not cable box functions. Again, I know you can create custom buttons on the screen, but that's just way too much of a hassle to cycle through different screens just to arrow up, down, left, or right. I can just push the Watch TV button if I need to watch what's on my DVR.But I digress. As of right now, the product is working swimmingly. I will update my review if an issue arises.

Fantastic Customer Service
I got this splitter to replace one that had lasted me several years then just mysteriously gave up the ghost. This was a fraction of the price I paid for that one and about half the size. But, you know, technology. I figured smaller, faster cheaper. The item arrived on time and was super easy to install. But, I had this mysterious problem. I got this to run out of my TiVo into two televisions in two different rooms. When I used it with one television, it was fine. But, when the second television was turned on the picture would be fine, but sound on the first TV would drop out. Removing and replugging in the cables would fix it, sometimes. I tried turning each TV on and off several times. The thing that seemed to fix it most consistently was unplugging and replugging the switch itself from power.I was about to chalk this up to experience. This was really cheap. Maybe it's only good for video. I started to research another switch since I had already thrown the box away and figured I could return this. Then, I got an email from the company asking me to leave a review and to let them know if I had any problems. Wow. It was worth a shot. I wrote back to them and let them know about my problem hoping they could help me troubleshoot it. They quickly offered a replacement. I wrote back, accepted the offer, but gave them more details about the problem. They said they couldn't diagnose it from where they were (most likely China), but the replacement was in the mail.I wasn't hopeful that the replacement would fix the problem. I figured it was more likely to be a design flaw than a manufacturing defect, but I had nothing to lose. The replacement came in two days. I plugged it in and crossed my fingers. It works fine.I've got to say I am very impressed with the company's service. The day after they mailed the replacement, they contacted me to see if I had it. They offered it with no hassle and no expectation of a return of the original. For that, I give them five stars.

Worked Well After A Restart
The splitter didn’t work on first connection. I had followed the instructions (note: as with most of these devices, one should connect all the cables before the power cord to avoid damage; it’s also wise to turn off all the associated equipment). All the device lights were on so it was getting power. I wrote to Sowtech; Linda responded promptly. She asked whether my source component (a TiVo Premiere Series 4) had a 4K output and whether the HDMI-out was the 2.0 format, neither of which would work for the splitter. No 4K on this older DVR but I wasn’t sure about the HDMI-out. So I set things aside for the night. The next morning I reconnected all the cables and then powered up. This time it worked, feeding the TiVo signal to both my target HDTVs. Still doing fine after several hours. Maybe the splitter needed a reset that comes from a power off and then power on. Other Amazon reviewers made the same observation altho Linda didn’t suggest it. I hope this review helps others. It’s a much-needed device for my situation.Note: The Q&A on Amazon indicates that the splitter SHOULD work for 4K so I don’t understand why Linda said it might not. And yes, as one reviewer wrote, the power plug wire is very short. BTW I was able to run the signal to both TVs at the same time. I can’t assess for certain about the complaint over 5.1/7.1 surround being down-converted to 2.0. I hope Sowtech tells us. (Edit: My AV Receiver detects only stereo from a full surround recording.)
